The achievement was formally announced during a celebration that gathered more than 200 local producers. Under the theme “Footprint for the future,” the day also served as a space to network and discuss the present and future of sustainable agriculture, Viterra said.
Initiated in 2023, Ígaris measures the carbon footprints of farms and incentivizes the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices. In 2025, in partnership with Bayer, Viterra aims to reach 2 million soybean hectares measured through the Ígaris program and expand its methodology to cover new agricultural commodities, such as corn, wheat, barley and sunflower.
Viterra also presented the program at the seventh edition of Paraguay’s Innovar Fair to more than 50 producers, cooperatives and industry representatives. The occasion marked the international debut of Ígaris, and Viterra said it hopes to see it expand beyond Argentina.
Viterra has a global net Zero Carbon by 2050 commitment. Ígaris was developed as a commercial solution for agricultural producers, with the goal of decarbonizing the supply chain, regaining competitiveness and adding value to Argentina’s national soybean production.
“Through initiatives like Ígaris, Viterra continues to work to become carbon net zero by 2050, helping our progress toward the long-term sustainability of our operations,” Viterra said.
