Vinamilk received The World Dairy Innovation Awards 2023 as the winner of the Dairy alternatives category during this year's Global Dairy Congress.
The theme of the 2023 Global Dairy Congress is "Reimagining Dairy". In face of numerous international challenges and difficulties, the global dairy industry must realign itself in terms of its core values and intrinsic motivation in order to develop sustainably.
Vinamilk's participation in this discussion has helped over 200 representatives from leading organizations and units in the global dairy industry gain new insights into the Vietnam's dairy industry. Furthermore, Vinamilk inspired participating businesses with unforgettable stories from Vietnam's 50-year-old dairy industry.
At the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri, Marketing Executive Director of Vinamilk shared over 47 years of Vinamilk and the dairy industry's journey together with the development of Vietnam. He highlighted how Vietnam recently passed the 100 million mark in population and how this has resulted in new opportunities. Vietnam's dairy industry began its journey without access to modern factories, large-scale dairy farms and the ability to to produce milk on an industrial scale. After nearly half a century, the industry has developed significantly with noteworthy achievements.
After hearing the speech from Vinamilk, Mr. Richard Hall, Chairman of the 16th Global Dairy Congress commented: “I am deeply moved by the successful journey that Vinamilk and the Vietnam's dairy industry made, as well as the story about Ms. Mai Kieu Lien that Vinamilk shared at the beginning of this year's presentation.
"From humble beginnings, Vinamilk has grown to become a major player in the global economy. In addition to developing high quality products, they also help solvie social problems with a focus on people's health and happiness. And now they are reaching out into the world.”
As the first-time winner of the The World Dairy Innovation Awards 2023, Vinamilk Super Nut - 9 Kinds of plant milk product was crowned champion in the Dairy alternatives category after passing a preliminary round and surpassing seven other products from many countries around the world.
At the presentation, Vinamilk shared the story of Dielac-brand baby formula product as an example of its development journey. Dielac, which was created 34 years ago, was the first baby formula product to be made in Vietnam and also the first to be exported. It later became Vinamilk's main export product to various countries around the world.
Nearly 20 years ago, Vinamilk conducted extensive nationwide nutritional surveys and clinical studies to create products that were appropriate for Vietnamese children. Subsequently, Vinamilk has been constantly improving this product line in order to ensure that every Vietnamese children have access to the most essential nutrition for their development.
Vinamilk invested 100 million USD in constructing a super factory for baby powder in 2013. The factory, with an annual capacity of 54,000 tons, was expected to create a breakthrough in terms of both quality and quantity for this product. Vinamilk is currently expanding cooperation and investment in factories, factory projects, and farms with an estimated investment capital of 600 million USD in preparation for the future.
The dairy industry cannot single out the core value of "product quality", so Vinamilk has strategically cooperated with various world's leading nutrition expert groups such as Chr Hansen, DSM, Beneo, AKK, etc. in order to develop dairy products that meet international standards. All of Vinamilk's baby formula products won the "Purity Award" in 2023 - a prestigious award on purity and food safety standards where products are subject to the screening of over 400 important criteria.
In addition to bringing quality products to consumers, Vinamilk's development goes hand in hand with community development. These linkages will create interconnected and sustainable values for the dairy industry.
With a scale of 5 billion USD and opportunity for growth, Vietnam's dairy industry not only meets the needs of a strong developing country, but also enjoys global acclaim for its breakthrough in a country with no existing strength in the dairy industry.
Vinamilk, a leading business in Vietnam's dairy industry, has made significant contributions to these achievements. Additionally, the company's successes were credited in various international lists including the Top 40 largest dairy companies in the world in terms of revenue; Top 10 most valuable dairy brands worldwide. According to Mr. Piercristiano Brazzale, President of the IDF, Vinamilk is a large, dynamic, innovative and efficient company in Vietnam. He affirmed that IDF, an organization representing more than 40 countries working together to develop the global dairy industry, welcomes Vietnam to join its rank. IDF is willing to cooperate with Vietnam and Vinamilk in order to develop the dairy industry.
Vietnam is fast growing country that is full of vitality and aspiration. Outlining the future of the global dairy industry Vinamilk's representative ended the presentation by sharing: "With its mission, the dairy industry is making important changes to explore its great potential along with Vietnam. A sustainable, advanced and constantly innovating dairy industry will be the new vision, new image, new energy source and new mission for the Vietnam's dairy industry as well as Vinamilk".
