Vietnam’s rice exports increased sharply in the first half of March this year, particularly to Thailand.
According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Centre under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam exported 214,670 tonnes of rice worth US$117.58 million in the first half of March, marking an increase of 38.5 per cent in volume and 40.55 per cent in value compared with those of the previous period.
Notably, the country’s rice exports to Thailand increased 3,013 per cent, reaching 16,250 tonnes.
Vietnam’s rice exports to other markets also grew quite strongly such as Ghana with an increase of 74.4 per cent, UEA 302.9 per cent, Fiji 500.5 per cent and Indonesia 2,180 per cent.
In the first half of March, rice orders from the Philippines also tended to increase again with an export volume of 53,620 tonnes worth US$28.84 million, marking an increase of 53.8 per cent in volume and 51 per cent in value when compared with those of the previous period.
The exports to the Philippines accounted for 25 per cent of total rice export volume in the first half of March 2021.
