According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Centre under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in February 2021, shipments of meat and meat products from Vietnam to South Korea reached US$1.34 million, marking an increase of 197.9 per cent compared with that of January 2021 and an increase of 256.5 per cent compared with the same period of last year.

Meat exports to South Korea made up 19.3 per cent of Vietnam’s total meat export in February.

Frozen chicken feet and duck feet were two key Vietnam’s exports to South Korea in that month as their export value accounted for 77.3 per cent of total livestock products that Vietnam exported to South Korea.

Vietnam also exported other meat products to South Korea including frog meat and processed meats.

It is reported that South Korea sped up importing poultry products in February to ensure supply to its domestic market as its livestock sector was heavily hit by avian flu since late last year.
