According to the European Statistics Office (Eurostat), the EU's cashew imports in 2021 reached 216.26 thousand tons, worth EUR 1.3 billion (US$ 1.43 billion), up 5.5% in volume but down 1.6% in value compared to 2020.
Notably, the Vietnamese cashew nut market share in the EU's total imports accounted for 54.02% in 2021.
The three largest cashew nut import markets in the EU are the Netherlands, Germany, and France. In 2021, the Netherlands imported 63.1 thousand tons of cashew nuts, worth EUR 376.63 million (equivalent to US$ 413.92 million), up 7.6% in volume and 3.6% in value over compared to 2020.
Germany imported 59.2 thousand tons of cashew nuts, worth EUR 359.7 million (equivalent to US$ 395.3 million), down 9.7% in volume and 16.6% in value compared to 2020.
France imported approximately 17,000 tons of cashews, worth EUR 112.65 million (equivalent to US$ 123.8 million), up 16.3% in volume and 6.8% in value compared to 2020.
