According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Turkey, in January 2021, Vietnam cashew nuts imports into Turkey reached 728.6 tons, valued at US$ 2.9 million, a spontaneous increase in volume (257.5%), especially in turnover (534.1%) over January 2020.
This shows that the price of cashew nuts imported by Vietnam into Turkey has increased since the beginning of 2020, which one of the important reasons is the high cost of sea transport due to the shortage of empty containers globally.
In accordance with the data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), the total amount of peeled cashew nuts imported to Turkey in January this year was 795.84 tons, worth approximately US$ 3.3 million, up 184.3% in volume and 224.8% in value over the same period last year.
As stated by Vietnam Trade Office in Turkey, cashew nut imports into Turkey increased sharply because the Covid-19 epidemic remained complicated. This country continuously took measures for social distancing along with curfew at night during weekdays and weekends. This forces people to stay at home, causing the demand for nut products such as cashew nuts to increase recently.
In January, Vietnam was the top peeled cashew nuts supplier to Turkey, accounting for 87.9% of the total value of cashew imports into this country.
