A cooperation agreement has been signed in an online ceremony on October 21 between IWA and VWSA.
International Water Association (IWA) is a network and a global information centre for any cadres/specialists and people who are interested in the future of the water industry. With more than 70 years of operation and development, IWA connects expert scientists with cadres of the water industry and the community to promote sustainable solutions proposed by pioneering research. At the same time, the Association also promotes and supports scientific and technological innovation and best practices through international frameworks and standards.
International Water Association (IWA) and Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) have agreed to cooperate in order to ensure the future development of cadres of the water industry in Vietnam as well as to exchange experience and scientific and technology information at an international level.
A cooperation agreement has been signed in an online ceremony on October 21 between IWA and VWSA, thereby recognizing VWSA as the organization holding Executive Member’s authority of IWA in Vietnam.
The Executive Members are central in the effort of spreading the IWA vision of a world with reasonable water management. They represent IWA at a national and regional level with the duty of gathering individuals in the local area to exchange quality solutions and open up opportunities for exploration of advanced water and consumption methods.
“We are excited for the opportunity to collaborate with VWSA as an important partner, being a bridge between our global network and specialists, cadres of the Vietnam water industry. Executive Members of IWA play a vital role in our operations. Therefore, VWSA's role as the organization holding Executive Member’s authority of IWA in Vietnam has a special meaning,” Dr. Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy, Executive Director of IWA, said at the ceremony.
IWA will join hands with VWSA to enforce the coordination and resolution to specific needs of Vietnam and Southeast Asia region, as well as nurturing the development of cadres of the water industry with the goal of the improved water industry in the future.
Through this partnership, cadres working in the water industry of Vietnam will have their skills and capabilities enhanced through the connection with the global network and the cadres development program of IWA. Being a member of IWA, the Vietnam water industry’s cadres will have a chance to link with coworkers around the world to demonstrate their capabilities and to improve leadership skills.
The IWA’s career and leadership improvement program includes multiple events, webinars, benchmarking tools, access to industry publications and expert working groups across all stages of the closed water cycle.
Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association’s Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Diep signed the witness paper of the cooperation agreement.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, VWSA’s Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Diep said “VWSA claims an important position in the water industry and the field of technical infrastructure and environmental protection in Vietnam. The signing event of the Memorandum of Understanding with IWA today is a vital activity for VWSA, bringing the opportunity of joining the global network for the Vietnam water industry.
We acknowledge that with the duty of connecting water industry’ specialists around the world through an advanced and stable approach, IWA will aid and lead countries to cooperate and solve problems and challenges of the water industry.”
“Being a member of IWA, countries can learn through each other by the use of IWA’s platforms, searching for the most reasonable and appropriate methods of water management and avoid mistakes through lessons learned. I hope that this collaboration between VWSA and IWA will develop even more and achieve successful results,” said Mr. Diep.
Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) was founded on June 7, 1988. Currently, VWSA has more than 350 Collective members across the country, representing over 70000 personnel, cadres, workers, scientists and managers doing management, consulting, science researches, training, building, exploitation, operation, production and trading of materials and equipment relating to the water supply and drainage field.
VWSA is also embarking on the development/assessment of key strategies, policies, programs, plans and projects, addressing hot issues of Vietnam's water supply and drainage industry.
Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association also aids water businesses to solve their needs like reforming the business, managing loss of water, water safety/security planning, improving water supply services, digitalizing the water industry, etc. VWSA supports multilateral and bilateral international cooperation as well as experience exchanging operations, trading of types of equipment, technologies and services of the water industry.
