On October 30, in Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) collaborated with the UNCTAD Excellence Centre (belonging to Nha Trang University) to organize a workshop with the topic: “Sustainably increasing the value of fisheries and aquaculture products for export”.
The conference took place from October 30 to November 3, with the participation of UNCTAD representatives; the UNCTAD Excellence Centre; experts, and businesses... that are working in the field of exploitation, farming, inspection, and export of seafood in Angola.
The workshop shared practical lessons, policies, and experiences of Vietnam in exploiting the potential of the fisheries industry for socio-economic development; and discussed the strategies needed for Angola to transform its fisheries sector through value addition and export diversification.
The workshop also discussed technologies in sustainable fisheries exploitation and addressing the challenges of IUU fishing activities (illegal, unreported and unregulated seafood exploitation)...
The conference helps Vietnam to share experiences and successes in developing the exploitation and aquaculture industry for the community to benefit from the EU - UNCTAD joint program for Angola..., and at the same time strengthen capacity in the fields of exploitation, farming, processing and export of aquatic products in Angola.
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) also known as the United Nations Trade and Development Forum, was established in 1964 under Resolution 1995 of the United Nations General Assembly. UNCTAD is considered the largest economic and trade organization within the United Nations system. The purpose of UNCTAD is to promote economic development in general and trade in particular of all member countries, especially developing countries.
