On the contrary, the turnover of Vietnam rice exported to Australia grew impressively, reached 37.03%, resulted by gradually raise of quality and continuous efforts trademark promotion. “Vietnamese prioritizebuying Vietnam’s products” campaign also contributes strongly.

The Vietnam Trade Office in Australia will push ups the communication of images and information of Vietnam’s agriculture products in the coming time. A list of eligible enterprises for export rice to Australia is introduced by virtual assistant of the office (chatbox) to Australian importers who are interested in.

Vietnam and Australia are affected heavily by Covid-19 pandemic. In this tough time, exports of Vietnam’s agriculture and aquatics products still grow strongly. In the first 7 months of this year, exports of vegetable and fruit increased by over 45%, exports of aquatics products increased by over 53%, compared to the same period of 2020.

Recently, the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia organized Week of Vietnamese dragon fruit in July 21-27, another occasion will be from August 10, to promote trade for fruit. According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the latest statistics of the International Trade Center (ITC) show that, in the first five months of 2021, shrimp imports into Australia have reached USD 127 million, up 40% over the same period last year.

A notable thing is that Vietnam's shrimp imports of Australia have increased sharply, but imports from Thailand and China have shown signs of decrease. In the first five months of this year, Vietnam's shrimp imports into Australia have reached USD 79 million, up 93% while imports from Thailand and China have decreased by 4% and 31% respectively.

Although the price of shrimp imported from Vietnam is still higher than rival countries USD 1 - 2/kg, Vietnamese shrimps are competing very well in this market.

Australia is a potential shrimp export market in the CPTPP market group. In the past 2 years, the export value of Vietnamese shrimp (especially whiteleg shrimp) to the Australian market has been positive. In the second quarter of 2021, there are 81 Vietnamese enterprises participating in exporting shrimp to this market, the largest of which is Minh Phu Seafood Cooperation.
