Vietnam buys 90% of Cambodia's cashew nut output

(VAN) Cambodia is currently one of the countries with the largest output of cashew nuts in the world, with 90% of raw cashew nut output sold to Vietnam.

According to the Agency of Foreign Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), information from the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) shows that in 2024, Cambodia exported 815,000 tons of cashew nuts, worth USD 1.15 billion, increasing by 24% in quantity and 31% in value compared to 2023.

Cambodia exports the most raw cashew nuts to Vietnam, accounting for about 90% of this country's cashew nut exports, followed by exports to India and China.

Cambodia has become the second-largest raw cashew nut producer in the world, with a total output of 850,000 tons in 2024, up 26% compared to the previous year. This increase is a positive signal for the development of Cambodia's cashew industry, and the price of cashew nuts is also high in 2024.

In addition to rice, rubber, cassava, palm oil, banana, mango, longan, and pepper, cashew is also one of the crops with the potential to bring high commercial value to Cambodia.
