On December 4, 1945, the Minister of Home Affairs signed Decree No. 129 to establish Tac Dat Newspaper - production promotion agency of the Ministry of Agriculture (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development). On the first issue of Tac Dat newspaper on December 7, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh wrote a "Letter to Vietnamese farmers", showing the Party's, Uncle Ho's, and State's attention to information distribution in the agricultural sector.

In its 75 years of establishment and development, the Tac Dat Newspaper (now the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper) has been renamed many times, but still retains two major pillars. The first one is the development of the newspaper itself. From a small printing newspaper, it has developed various forms of media such as video newspaper and online newspaper. Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has become a popular newspaper, not only in the agricultural field but in all other social sectors, showing its continuous development.

The second pillar is that the newspaper has always adhered to its purpose. Whenever Vietnamese agriculture, peasants and rural areas emerged as the leading role, the newspaper completed its mission of disseminating major policies of the Party and the Agriculture and Rural Development sector.

The newspaper, along with farmers, has raised good examples to effectively contribute to the accomplishment of major goals of the agricultural, peasantry and rural area sector. Especially in recent years, since the doi moi, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has been playing an important part in changing the agricultural landscape.

From a poor country lack of food, we now become a country with agricultural production basically meet the demand of 100 million people.

In 2019, Vietnam even ranked 15th in global agricultural exports, to 185 countries with a value of up to US$40.55 billion and an absolute surplus of over US$8 billion, which is an outstanding development.

In addition, we have the National Target Program on building New Rural Area to implement Central Resolution no. 26. Over the past 10 years of implementation, more than 60% of communes have met 19 criteria of new rural area, the material and spiritual life of people in rural areas has been improved day by day.

Up to now, compared to 2009, rural people's income has increased 4 times, from approximately VND 10 million to VND 43 million/person. The spiritual life has also been significantly improved, rural areas have gradually been green, clean and unique in identity.

It can be said that, in order to achieve those achievements, the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has played an important role in communicating the policies of the Party and the State as well as encouraging farmers to share good models to promote the cause of agriculture, peasants and rural areas.

In the coming time, the newspaper should follow up the "Project on Development and Management of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper to 2025, with a vision to 2030". This is a practical requirement, for which we make the best use of our facilities, apply the latest technologies in the fields of communication and information, so that the newspaper will be developing sustainably.

As a multimedia newspaper, the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper needs to take advantage of all forms of news transmission, from printing newspaper, online newspapers, video newspapers, applying the latest technologies to disseminate not only to the domestic community but also to the world.

On the one hand, we convey messages to highlight the policy of Vietnam proactively integrating in economic areas, especially the agricultural economy. On the other hand, we spread the image of Vietnamese rural areas with beautiful features from nature and of Vietnamese people with national identity, showing that Vietnam always wants to integrate into the world, be friends with all countries, to develop but still retain the unique image of Vietnam.

Looking back to the past, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has gone through many difficult stages. However, it must be admitted that the reporters under the Vietnam Agriculture brand have always adhered to its purpose of serving the cause of agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

Even during fiancially challenged periods under great pressure of the market economy, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper still maintained its purpose. All generations of leaders and reporters have passed on and maintained this fine tradition.

I believe that in the future, the newspaper will maintain its good tradition, going further and win the hearts of readers, affirming its position in the multi-media environment, thus meeting the expectations of the Party, the State, and the Agriculture and Rural Development sector.

On the 75th anniversary of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, I would like to wish all of its staff, editors, reporters, employees good health, enthusiasm, passion, and a burning desire to continue the brand of a major newspaper loved by all levels of agricultural management, by all walks of life, and especially by farmers.

I wish you all good health, enthusiasm and creativity to continue your excellent works, serving the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas in Vietnam.

I wish all the readers and audiences of the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper faith and enthusiasm to join hands and build a developed and modern Vietnamese agriculture, bringing a well-off and then prosperous life for farmers and making rural areas green, clean, beautiful, and rich in identity.
