Vannamei: strict inspection system for guaranteed shrimp quality

(VAN) Vannamei is an outstanding high-end feed for whiteleg shrimps from Grobest Vietnam. The product has gained the trust of shrimp farmers nationwide.

Vannamei is certified by Grobest Vietnam for its outstanding effectiveness through joint evaluation from third parties. The trial recently launched by the Research Institute for Aquaculture No.2 (RIA2) on Vannamei is a prime example of maximum guarantee of transparency, objectivity and especially science.

Comprehensive assessment from farming practice

RIA2 conducted a quality test for Vannamei on a system of three comprehensive criteria: growth rate, the use efficiency on fingerlings, and ability to enhance shrimp’s resistance before disease in general.

After carrying out experiments from January to September 2021, RIA2 has produced very positive results.

Vannamei can be seen as one of Grobest Vietnam’s great achievements in aquatic nutrition. This is the premise for Vietnamese shrimp farmers to reap success and have bumper shrimp crops.

Vannamei meets all the factors to become a premium product for whiteleg shrimps.

To be more specific:

In terms of growth rate with reference to industrial ponds in RIA2, Vannamei showed average daily growth (ADG, unit: g/shrimp/d) and specific growth rate (SGR, unit: %BW/d) is superior to some other similar products on market by 6% and 4% respectively. The feed conversion ratio (FCR) is also lower by 9%, effectively saving input costs.

In the second trial, comparing the effects of Vannamei on postlarvae, RIA2 worked on many different popular varieties of shrimp seed. Considering the same type of shrimp seed, Vannamei showed much higher ADG, SGR and survival rate (SR). Specifically, the ADG index differed by 4%, the SGR 3%, and the SR on shrimps using Vannamei was 9% far behind.

In the experiment for the final criterion, RIA2 arranged specialized shrimp culture tanks and stocked bacteria to infect healthy shrimp. By the sixth day of growth in the infested environment, Vannamei-fed shrimps had a percentage of total Haemocyte count (THC), Superoxide dismutase activity (SOD) and Phagocytic capacity superior to some products of the same type. The shrimp’s SR was even up to 62%.

Compatibility with a wide variety of shrimp seeds is an important criterion in RIA2 trials.

New packaging, still premium-quality

Last September, the company officially re-launched Vannamei with completely new packaging. This act not only contributes to increasing Grobest's brand recognition on a global scale but also helps buyers easily distinguish different Vannamei product lines based on five distinct color systems.

The technical information and key ingredients of the product are also presented more clearly. Farmers can easily trace the origin of the product based on its own code system.

As for Grobest Vietnam’s part, factories can check the quality of each product more easily than before when it reaches farmers.

Dr. Tran Ngoc Thien Kim, Head of Formulation at Grobest Vietnam, shared, “Grobest Vietnam confidently affirms that the enterprise always gives it their all so the quality of Vannamei as well as other product lines only gets better and better.

“The high-class and freshness features of raw materials, exclusive additives, and advanced technology from Taiwan serve as the never-changing foundation that helps us stand firm in the market and truly become a friend of Vietnamese shrimp farmers.”
