The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has just requested Thua Thien - Hue Province to direct the implementation of urgent tasks to minimise forest fires and damage to forests.

Due to the influence of the intense hot weather for a long time, especially the days from June 27-28, 2021, a number of consecutive forest fires occurred and repeated many times in Thua Thien - Hue Province. Most forest fires have been found and handled timely, however, there are still many areas with high fire risk that can cause forest damage, environment and the lives of people in the area.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has sent a document to request the chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue Province to direct the performance of a number of urgent tasks to limit the forest fires.

The province has to be ready to ensure resources well and implement the following tasks: arranging force to be on duty 24/24 hours: patrolling in areas with high risk of forest fire; strictly controlling people going to forest areas with high fire risk; temporarily stopping activities of cleaning flora by using fire and timely detecting the points of forest fire.

Mobilising all necessary forces, vehicles and equipment to promptly extinguish fires, prevent large fires and minimise damage caused by forest fires.

Strengthening propaganda and education to raise awareness and responsibility of the people in forest fire prevention and fighting. In addition, inspecting, supervising, speeding up and guiding people to control the use of fire in and near forests, especially burning for cultivation.

Directing the military and police forces in the province to have plans to support forest fire fighting as well as mobilising forces and means to participate in fighting forest fire when having requests.

Directing damage recovery and stabilising production activities for forest owners. Especially, stabilising the life for forest owners who are households, individuals and people affected by forest fires.

The province must regularly monitor forest fire warning information on the Forest Protection Department's early fire warning information system at the website kiemlam.org.vn and report to the department as soon as a forest fire occurs by phone number 098 666 8 333 and email: fpd@kiemlam.org.vn to co-ordinate in directing and mobilising firefighting forces in case of need.
