Turn Thai Nguyen into a 'red address' to attract tourists

'Red address' attracts tourists

On the afternoon of April 11, within the framework of the Vietnam International Travel Mart VITM - Hanoi 2024, the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province organized a conference to promote tourism in Thai Nguyen province in 2024. 

According to Mr. Le Ngoc Linh, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, Thai Nguyen is a land with beautiful natural landscapes, converging many valuable historical and cultural relics to develop many types of tourism that attract tourists.

The province has over 1,000 inventoried relics, including 1 relic ranked at a special national level with 13 relic points; 57 relics are ranked at the national level and 237 relics are ranked at the provincial level; Nearly 300 craft villages, over 230 OCOP products from 3 to 5 stars.

Thai Nguyen has a rich and diverse ethnic composition. Ethnic groups still retain many unique cultural features in their lives. To date, Thai Nguyen province has a total of 23 heritage sites included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

This place is also the cradle of revolution with 'red addresses' that attract tourists to learn about typical historical and cultural relics, archaeological sites.

Besides, Thai Nguyen is also an attractive destination for eco-tourism and community tourism because this is a land of green mountains and blue water, cool and fresh climate with famous landscapes such as Nui Coc Lake, Ghenh Che Lake, Phuong Hoang Cave - Mo Ga Stream, waterfalls, beautiful wild rocky beaches on the eastern slope of Tam Dao and poetic green tea hills.Thai Nguyen is a locality known as the "First Famous Tea" because it has the largest area and output of tea in the country with a total area of more than 22,000 hectares and nearly 270,000 tons of fresh buds.

Mr. Le Ngoc Linh also added that currently, Thai Nguyen province has been focusing on building and developing 4 main tourism product lines including: Cultural, spiritual, historical, and origin tourism; Ecotourism and resort; Community and rural tourism associated with Tea culture; MICE tourism, sports, adventurous cave exploration.

In the first 3 months of 2024, Thai Nguyen welcomed nearly 1.2 million visitors, achieving revenue of VND 350 billion, an increase of 25% over the same period last year; including 3,650 international visitors.

At the Conference, representatives of the tourism associations of 7 provinces: Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen agreed to sign a memorandum of agreement on tourism development cooperation with basic development content: Human resource development; tourism product development; advertise, promote and call for investment in tourism development.

Thai Nguyen needs to promote regional cooperation and connectivity

Appreciating the active initiative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province in organizing this promotion conference, Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc, the Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), said that the province has a geographical location, convenient transportation, located in the planning of Hanoi capital area, near Noi Bai international airport.

"In addition, the 'First Famous Tea' land has rich natural resources, cultural and humanistic resources, converging many valuable cultural and historical heritages to develop many types and products. tourism meets the diverse needs of tourists. In recent years, Thai Nguyen tourism activities have prospered, developing typical tourism products of the region on the basis of promoting advantages, potential, creating a good impression in the hearts of tourists," Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc commented.

Accordingly, leaders of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and Thai Nguyen need to promote regional cooperation and connectivity, and at the same time focus on increasing the effective exploitation of intra-provincial and intra-regional tourism, in order to make the foundation for infrastructure of local tourism services better and better to meet the requirements and tasks in regional cooperation and linkage.

Vietnam International Travel Mart held in Hanoi from April 11 to 14 with the theme: "Vietnam Tourism - Green transformation for sustainable development". Participating in the Fair are more than 450 booths, including more than 100 international booths. This is Vietnam's leading international fair and has regional stature. It is expected that the Fair will attract about 100,000 customers to visit and shop.
