Training for 100 fishermen on removing IUU yellow card

(VAN) On April 19, 100 fishermen from Phuoc Thuan, Bung Rieng, and Binh Chau communes in Xuyen Moc district were educated on combating IUU fishing.

The program was organized by the Provincial Farmers' Union, the District Farmers' Union of Xuyen Moc, in collaboration with the Border Guard Station of Binh Chau. Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Si Thien, the Political Officer of the Binh Chau Border Guard Station, reported on the topic and addressed the fishermen's inquiries.

In the training session, the fishermen were briefed on the Vietnam Law of the Sea, the Fisheries Law of 2017, Prime Ministerial Dispatch No. 732 of May 28, 2017, regarding the prevention, minimization, and cessation of Vietnamese fishing vessels and fishermen's illegal exploitation of aquatic resources in foreign waters. Directive No. 45 of December 13, 2017, by the Prime Minister, concerning urgent tasks and solutions to address the European Commission's warning on combating IUU fishing; and Decree No. 42/2019/ND-CP, dated May 16, 2019, by the Government, stipulating administrative penalties for violations in the fisheries sector.
