At the 2nd press conference to inform about the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2023 ('HEF 2023') on September 7, Mr. Le Truong Duy, apprentice Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, said HEF 2023 to implement the "National strategy on green growth for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050". Ho Chi Minh City - as the economic, science, and technology center and gateway to international exchange, etc., of the country, is a pioneer in proposing and implementing critical national and regional policies. Ho Chi Minh City leaders have approved the Plan to implement the "Green Growth Strategy towards sustainable development in Ho Chi Minh City until 2030".
HEF 2023 revolves around 6 main themes: green growth and circular economy development trends for megacities; building an ecosystem of circular economy models in the context of aiming for zero emissions; policies in building green growth towards the goal of reducing emissions to zero and the mission of businesses; resources in circular economy development towards the goal of reducing emissions to zero and the mission of the business; international lessons and experiences promoting green growth and circular economy; situation of Ho Chi Minh City and solutions in the process of applying green growth model.
Also, according to Mr. Duy, HEF 2023 will have the participation of the Prime Minister, the Head of the Central Economic Commission, leaders of ministries, localities, financial institutions, international organizations, and domestic experts, and internationally in the green economy, circular economy, towards green, sustainable world growth.
In particular, within the framework of HEF 2023, city leaders will organize a meeting program with 100 of the world's leading CEOs in the domestic and international green economy and circular economy ecosystem with the desire to exchange international cooperation capabilities, calling for investment, creating a playground between Vietnamese and international businesses, and solutions for sustainable economic development in greening, contributing to realizing the "Green Growth Strategy towards sustainable development until 2030”.
The program's highlight is the harmonious integration between the program and Vietnamese tea enjoyment culture to introduce the quintessential value of Vietnamese tea enjoyment (especially tea products according to green standards) and simultaneously send the message of "Peace - Cooperation - Development in the future."

In addition, an exhibition of the city's green growth products and services will be organized at the Youth Cultural House for 5 days to introduce green, clean, quality, and environmentally friendly products. Thereby, propaganda raises people's awareness in prioritizing the use of products that limit emissions into the environment.
Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said that green growth and green economy are inevitable trends of the global economy. The ultimate goal is green growth. However, at present, the awareness of the community, people, and businesses about green growth is not enough. "The city itself is also confused with green transformation. Sometimes, we are even saving money on green growth.
Therefore, it is necessary to change perceptions about green growth and take quick actions to integrate and adapt to world trends. Through HEF, Ho Chi Minh City leaders will convey a strong message on this issue," Mr. Hoan commented, adding that within the framework of HEF 2023, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will announce a list of 130 businesses forced to change to adapt, and some other businesses voluntarily register to change.
Also, on this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City announced the "green enterprise" award to typical enterprises.
It is expected that within the framework of HEF 2023, Mr. Jeremy Jurgens, Executive Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF), will attend HEF 2023 and announce a Joint Statement on cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and WEF.
