On the morning of November 20, Thuyloi University held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day and announced the Resolution of the School Council to appoint a Vice Principal.
As a former student, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep said he was very "emotional" when he returned to attend this special event. He assessed: "The school's development process over the years is something to be proud of. The school always maintains its leading position in training, education, international cooperation, and scientific research for the entire irrigation industry".
The Deputy Minister shared that before, in each course, the university only enrolled about 100 students from 6 faculties, and the full-time teaching staff was about 200 people. However, currently, each year the university enrolls nearly 5,000 students, from over 20 faculties, with a teaching staff of more than 1,000 people, spread across all parts of the country.
With such a scale, Thuyloi University gradually became a multi-disciplinary school, attracting international friends to study.
Similar to 170 other universities across the country, Thuyloi University is gradually becoming autonomous under the new Higher Education Law. This poses many difficulties and challenges, as the school has to expand its team, build infrastructure, and expand international relations.
The school board has just approved a development strategy with a vision for 2050. Accordingly, Thuyloi University aims to maintain its top position among universities in Vietnam, reaching out to Asia by 2030 and the world by 2050.
"Teaching is about nursing talent. The teaching profession in the agricultural industry is very similar to farmers who plant seeds in the fields. Maybe that's why those who are teaching in the field of agriculture, including irrigation, are always diligent and hard-working", Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep acknowledged.
Responding to the Deputy Minister's opinion, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu, Rector of Thuyloi University expressed: "The teaching profession is not only a profession, but also a purpose and a noble responsibility. It has a profound influence on society and makes immeasurable contributions to the development of each individual and community. Our strength lies not only in opening the door to knowledge but also in the ability to open the door to the future".
In the current era, the principal acknowledged that those standing on the podium not only impart knowledge but also guide, accompany, and form the future of the young generation. Therefore, gratitude and respect for teachers and educators are considered an important part of ethics and social responsibility, contributing to ensuring our social and humanity richness in culture.
Currently, the school offers more than 70 programs in Vietnamese and English, with more than 24,000 students, trainees and graduate students. The school also focuses on social and extracurricular activities of students, such as the Excellent Graduation Project contest, the Student Startup Ideas contest, the Japanese Speech Contest, the Vietnamese Student Youth Football Tournament 2023, and the Career Fair...
In the 2022 - 2023 school year, the total budget for implementing the school's scientific tasks is more than VND 94 billion. In addition, the school promotes international cooperation and has signed more than 60 memoranda of understanding (MOU) with partners in Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States... creating conditions for students and lecturers to participate in exchange programs, joint research projects as well as academic cooperation.
On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of its founding, on behalf of the staff, lecturers, and students, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu set out 5 goals. In particular, the issue of innovation in training organizations is emphasized. It includes reviewing the program, ensuring curriculum and subject materials; and continuing to implement school assessment and accreditation work.
"The school is committed to promoting scientific and technological tasks, strengthening inspection of the quality and implementation progress of projects, and strengthening bilateral cooperative research. At the same time, consolidate the organizational structure towards modernity and internationalization but in accordance with Vietnam's characteristics, ensuring optimal use of human resources and facilities", Mr. Thu emphasized.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep awarded the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to the Department of Water Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Head of Training Department.
