As determined that China is still the major market for Hai Duong province’s Thieu lychee, in order to meet the food safety requirements of the domestic market as well as the China market, in 2021, the DARD has directed to maintain 47 planting area codes in Thanh Ha and Chi Linh City, with nearly 8,000ha. Total lychee production is estimated at 40-45 thousand tons (accounting for over 75% of the province's total lychee production).

The focal points of purchasing and exporting to China in Hai Duong are ready for the plan to buy 30,000 to 35,000 tons of lychee, exporting to China through the land border (estimated to account for over 50% of total lychee output of the whole province).

Conveniently go to Japan

Regarding the Japan market, in 2021, the DARD has directed Thanh Ha district and Chi Linh city to continue to deploy and act on 500 hectares in area, with 45 planting area codes (35 codes in Thanh Ha district and 10 codes in Chi Linh), with over 4,000 farming households participating in the project.

The installation and testing are now completed and ready for lychee processing for export to Japan. Hai Duong DARD has invited 8 enterprises to participate in purchasing and exporting lychee to the Japanese market (Ameii, Rong Do, Global, Bamboo, Hung Viet, Thanh Ha, Gimex).

From May 15th to 20th, Ameii Vietnam and Red Dragon Company will purchase and export the first shipments of lychee to Japan. Other companies plan to purchase and export after May 18th, 2021 (when it is the main lychee season).

Hai Duong enterprises expect to export to Japan 1,000 tons in total output.

It is expected that the export volume to the US, Australia and Singapore in 2021 will be about 1,000 tons. Ameii Vietnam and Red Dragon Company plan to export lychees to Australia and Singapore from May 16th to 18th.

Thanh Ha district and Chi Linh city are directed to select pesticides included in the list of pesticides in Vietnam and suitable for the import market to guide households to do business and trade regarding pesticides in the area, supply to the people and the district to buy and supply to households (in the model) to spray insecticide before harvesting to ensure pesticide residues.

The DARD has directed specialized agencies to strengthen inspection, examination and supervision of pesticide business and trading activities in the area, resolutely dealing with violations (selling banned pesticides, selling pesticides that are not on the list, instructing farmers to mix many pesticides, resulting in an increase in the concentration and dosage), which affect the quality of lychee, unqualified for export...

For the markets of Thailand, the Middle East, and Malaysia: In 2021, the province will have 7 planting area codes for export to Thailand, with an area of 100 hectares and about 400 hectares eligible for export to Singapore, Thailand and the Middle East. Output qualified for export to this market group is about 800 - 1,000 tons.

The DARD has invited many large export enterprises to Singapore, Thailand, the Middle East to connect and discuss consumption measures. Many businesses have come to survey the growing area and prepare the necessary conditions to export lychee to Singapore, the Middle East, and Thailand from May 20th to 25th as soon as possible.
