The veterinary industry is prepared to manage and adapt to changes

(VAN) On the occasion of the 73rd celebration of Vietnam's Veterinary Tradition Day, MARD Minister Le Minh Hoan conveyed a letter of congratulations to individuals involved in this profession.

The letter states: "In observance of the 73rd anniversary of the Vietnamese Veterinary Tradition Day (July 11, 1950 - July 11, 2023), I, on behalf of the Party Personnel Committee, the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, send sincere regards and best wishes to the successive generations of leaders, civil servants, officials, and employees within the animal health sector as a whole".

According to the Minister, over the course of 73 years of establishment and growth, the animal health industry has made significant progress, attributing its success to the guidance of the Party and State leadership, as well as the collective efforts and unity of successive generations of leaders, civil servants, public employees, and laborers. These achievements have contributed to maintaining the industry's tradition and enhancing its standing.

The sector has prioritized the creation and improvement of the legal framework on animal health, as well as the establishment and strengthening of the veterinary system at administrative levels from central to local; enhanced the ability of personnel to effectively fulfill the demands and responsibilities in modern times.

The objectives encompassed in this proposal involve pushing for administrative reform, fostering digital transformation, acquiring proficiency in research technology, facilitating the transfer and efficient application of scientific findings in practical production settings, fostering extensive international collaboration, facilitating trade negotiations, and exporting animals and animal products to foreign nations.

In addition to their responsibilities in promoting the well-being of livestock and aquatic animals, veterinarians assume a proactive and significant role in safeguarding public health and preserving the ecological environment. The "One Health" approach is deployed to effectively manage perilous diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans.

A significant number of regions and facilities have been effectively constructed to ensure the containment of diseases, while simultaneously addressing the demand for food supply both domestically and for export purposes. The primary objective of veterinary research is to develop and manufacture a wide range of pharmaceuticals and immunizations aimed at mitigating and managing animal diseases. In recent times, the international community has expressed significant appreciation for the African swine fever vaccine.

The Minister believes that the animal health industry must overcome various challenges. He emphasized the importance of adopting an open-minded approach, taking prompt action, and achieving tangible outcomes. Minister Le MInh Hoan is confident in the industry's ability to uphold its esteemed tradition of adaptability in the face of future changes.

The leader of the agriculture sector asserts that it is imperative for the entire industry to engage in ongoing learning and strive for expertise in the fields of science and technology, particularly in the areas of research and production of veterinary drugs and vaccines of superior quality. Furthermore, it is imperative to implement appropriate and viable measures to regulate animal slaughter practices and uphold the principles of food safety.

On the occasion of this particular event, Minister Le Minh Hoan said, "Collectively, we engage in a continuous process of innovation, creation, and enhancement of qualifications, fostering a constructive and standardized approach to work. The Minister expresses their belief and expectation that through collective efforts, numerous societal values are generated, thereby fostering the advancement of the veterinary industry in Vietnam".

In the period 2020 - 2025, the veterinary industry has successfully established 2,458 establishments and disease-free zones across 57 provinces and cities. These establishments primarily focus on the production of veterinary drugs, effectively meeting approximately 80% of the domestic demand. Additionally, the country has a total of 463 centralized animal slaughterhouses and 24,654 small-scale animal slaughterhouses.

Moreover, Vietnam's Veterinary Industry has made significant strides in various areas. Firstly, there has been substantial progress in refining the legal framework pertaining to veterinary medicine. This includes the establishment of comprehensive regulations that govern the field. Secondly, efforts have been made to uphold and strengthen the veterinary system, ensuring its effectiveness and efficiency.

Additionally, commendable achievements have been made in the control of animal diseases, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in this domain. Furthermore, considerable improvements have been implemented in animal quarantine, slaughter control, veterinary hygiene, and food safety. Notably, the management of veterinary drugs has been enhanced, accompanied by successful research endeavors and the production of vital vaccines such as the ASF vaccine and the lumpy skin disease vaccine.

International collaboration in the field of veterinary medicine has yielded remarkable outcomes, with numerous outstanding results. Moreover, Vietnam has generously sponsored various international projects, allocating a substantial budget exceeding 10 million USD. Simultaneously, efforts have been made to collaborate and negotiate with other countries to facilitate the exportation of livestock products, including processed chicken, salted duck eggs, processed milk, and bird's nest.
