The only remaining primeval mangrove forest in Tam Giang lagoon

Ru Cha is the name of a primeval mangrove forest in Thuan Hoa village, Huong Phong commune, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue province. This place is known as the only mangrove forest still on the Tam Giang lagoon system, the largest brackish water lagoon system in Southeast Asia.

As explained by the locals, the word "Ru" means jungle, and "Excoecaria agallocha" is the most typical tree here.

Previously, Ru Cha mangrove forest had a total area of about 5 hectares. From 2015 until now, in Huong Phong commune, another 19ha of forests have been planted with double mangroves, Sonneratia caseolaris, and nipa palm trees.

Ru Cha mangrove forest has a relatively rich system of organisms such as fish, shrimp, crabs, etc., creating favorable conditions for people here to cultivate aquatic products and develop livelihoods.

Stepping inside the forest, thousands of tea trees are in the deciduous season, causing a ghostly, wild, and mysterious feeling for those who come to this forest for the first time.
