Mr Nguyen Khac Pho, Director of the Management Board of Con Dao National Park, stated that a mother turtle with a registration tag from Malaysia has travelled thousands of miles to Bai Cat Lon, part of Hon Bay Canh, Con Dao, to give birth. The mother turtle laid 108 eggs safely under the professional assistance of the park rangers from Con Dao National Park.

"According to initial assessments, this green sea turtle weighs 90 - 100kg and is around 40 years old. This is not the first time that Hon Bay Canh has welcomed international turtle mothers to nest during the breeding season", Mr Pho informed.

It is expected that by June this year, thousands of "Malaysian citizen" turtle hatchlings will conquer the ocean.

At Con Dao National Park, sea turtles reproduce year-round, with the peak season from May to August. During the breeding season, sea turtles migrate from feeding grounds to nesting areas. The mating process often occurs during migration and before nesting on beaches. Every year, Con Dao National Park welcomes over 2,000 mother turtles to nest and lay eggs.
