The Hanoi City Forest Protection Department has also closely collaborated with the Asian Animal Foundation in bear rescue operations, completing all legal procedures to transfer the bear to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center in Tam Dao National Park, Vinh Phuc Province.
It is known that the bear owner's family voluntarily transferred ownership and submitted a donation letter to the state, expressing the wish to send the bear to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc, after 22 years of care.
The female bear, named Tulip after the flower species, has a legal origin and has been raised by the homeowner in the kitchen behind the main house since 2002 when she was just a cub.
The rescue team sedated the bear, took her outside, and conducted an examination at the scene. Through clinical examination, veterinarian Shaun Thomson stated that Tulip the bear has a missing right front paw, missing teeth, and signs of inflammation in the gallbladder.
During the initial period after the rescue, experts will closely monitor the bear's health and provide a specific, comprehensive treatment and recovery plan.

In just the first four months of 2024, the Hanoi City Forest Protection Department has handed over 5 bears to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center, bringing the total number of rescued bears from Hanoi by the Asian Animal Foundation to 39 since 2019.
To date, the Asian Animal Foundation has rescued and cared for 277 bears, including sun bears and moon bears, in Vietnam. The organization is launching a fundraising campaign worldwide with the slogan #Nobearleftbehind (Not leaving any bear behind with the goal of rescuing all bears in captivity in Vietnam).
