Search volume for Vietnam tourism up to sixth place in the world

(VAN) In the first six months of 2023, the number of searches about Vietnam tourism continuously increased, ranked at the top of the world, ranked from 11th to 6th.

Powerful recovery

On July 19 in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to organize a conference to link, cooperate and stimulate tourism development. Attending the meeting were leaders of many tourism departments in the South, experts, and foreign businesses operating in the field of tourism.

According to Pham Van Thuy, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, over the past time, localities and businesses have been proactive and have made great efforts to bring the tourism industry back to recovery and robust development.

In 2023, Vietnam's tourism industry aims to welcome 8 million international visitors. In the first 6 months of 2023, the tourism industry has welcomed more than 5.5 million international visitors, 13 times more than last year, reaching 69% of the year plan. Simultaneously, the tourism industry served over 64 million domestic tourists, up 5.3% over the same period last year, reaching 63% of the year plan. Total revenue from tourists got more than VND 343 trillion, up 29.4% over the same period the previous year, reaching 52.7% of the plan.

In particular, in the first 6 months of 2023, the search volume for Vietnam tourism continuously increased, ranked at the top of the world, from 11th position has now "jumped" to 6th position. Vietnam is a destination only in Southeast Asia in this group. The above data shows that the demand for tourism in Vietnam is recovering very quickly, at a much higher rate than competitors in the region.

According to Thuy, by grasping market trends, Vietnam has a good opportunity to attract international visitors in the coming time. In particular, the tourism industry has just received excellent news when the National Assembly has agreed to extend the duration of e-visas from 30 days to 90 days, valid for multiple entry; increase the temporary stay period for people entering the visa exemption unilaterally from 15 days to 45 days.

These policies will officially take effect from August 15, 2023. In addition, the Government is also considering expanding the unilateral visa exemption to attract international visitors to Vietnam.

With the determination to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector of the province, an indispensable destination for tourism in the South Central Coast, in the past time, Binh Dinh has focused on infrastructure investment development and diverse and attractive tourism products.

"In 2023, Binh Dinh's tourism industry strives to welcome 5 million visitors; revenue reached VND 16,400 billion. To achieve this target, right from the beginning of the year, the Binh Dinh Department of Tourism has coordinated with departments, branches, and localities to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan to develop Binh Dinh tourism in 2023 with many programs and events inside and outside the province," shared Tran Van Thanh, Director of Binh Dinh Department of Tourism.

At the conference, the opinions and contributions of the delegates, especially those of tourism businesses, are significant for the research, development, and exploitation of tourism products. Within the framework of the conference, tourism associations of provinces and cities and tourism businesses in towns and provinces have signed cooperation agreements, stimulating tourism development.
