According to the General Department of Customs, seafood export in March reached over $1 billion. As a consequence, this is the first time that seafood export turnover in a month has surpassed the billion-dollar mark.
With the export results for March and the first quarter of this year, seafood exports have reached $2,524 billion. This is a record level for seafood exports in the first quarter of the year.
Of the total seafood export value in the first quarter, shrimp accounted for 38% with nearly $955 million; pangasius accounted for 26% with $654 million; tuna accounted for over 10% with $259 million; mollusks, including squid, octopus and shellfish accounted for 7.5% with $189 million; other marine fish accounted for 17% with $421 million.
According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the increased demand and price of seafood in the world market is an important reason for Vietnam's seafood to achieve these impressive milestones.
In which, the price of pangasius exported to main markets increased by 40-70%, the export price of other products also increased significantly compared to the same session in 2021.
