The Minister lychee tree

The leader of the organic lychee production cooperative group in Dong Giao village, Vu Van Men, recently shared some exciting news from the Luc Ngan district. According to Men, Minister Le Minh Hoan has taken ownership of a lychee tree in the "home lychee tree" model at an orchard belonging to one of the group's members. Men expressed their pride in the news.

Several officials from Bac Giang province have placed orders for trees with the group. Ripening lychees when reaching the highest degree of sweetness and deliciousness can be collected in the garden by hand.

Like other several lychee cultivation households in Luc Ngan, the lychee garden of the Production group mainly serves the Chinese market. However, a small portion of their harvest is reserved for more high-end markets like Japan and the European Union. Luc Ngan's agriculture sector has estimated that approximately 90% of thieu, u hong, and hybrid Thanh Ha lychees have been exported to China. The area's high-quality lychee gardens have been receiving orders from Chinese merchants since the beginning of the crop, owing to their prestigious reputation.

The garden of the production team has become a bustling hub ever since Minister Le Minh Hoan placed an order for a lychee tree. On a daily basis, delegations pay visits and traders frequent the garden for purchases.

According to Men, the cultivation of organic lychee trees is a crucial step in ensuring the well-being of themselves and their loved ones. He emphasized that this approach is necessary as it prioritizes health above all else.

Lychee fruit harvested from the Minister tree, as well as from other trees that are organically tended, will yield superior quality fruit compared to those fertilized with inorganic fertilizers.

According to the "lychee garden wizard", several years ago, the pervasive odor of chemical pesticides contaminated the surroundings. The once lively sounds of birds singing in Luc Ngan have become scarce due to the destruction of worms. The natural enemies of the lychee worm have also been eliminated, and the growth of grass has been hindered. Lychee gardens in Luc Ngan are experiencing a decrease in yield due to soil hardening caused by the excessive use of inorganic fertilizers and chemical pesticides. This has resulted in a significant drop in production for some gardens.

Men stated that taking care of organic lychee trees will require more effort and expenses compared to the inorganic approach. The implementation of this technique has yielded positive outcomes, including the prevention of soil hardening, uniform crop yield, and improved fruit quality.

100% of lychees look good before being exported to China

According to Nguyen Van Quyen, a VietGap lychee grower in Hong Giang commune, Luc Ngan district, all of the high-quality lychee produce is exported to the Chinese market. Both type 1 and type 2 lychee are domestically consumed. Chinese traders are purchasing these fruits at a premium, and the Chinese side has reportedly reserved the entire garden since the start of the season. These factors have led to the decision to make this move. Certain gardens have made a deliberate decision to enter into agreements with merchants, without concern for potential fluctuations in pricing.

Lychee is readily available everywhere in Luc Ngan. The hills have been adorned with the vibrant red hue of ripening lychee, creating a stunning spectacle similar to a blazing inferno in the distant sky. Chinese traders have purchased these beautiful fruits.

There are several types of garden lychee out there. Premium fruits are exclusively allocated for export purposes. Types 1 and 2 are still available for domestic consumption and can be found in supermarkets.

According to Nguyen The Thi, Vice Chairman of Luc Ngan District People's Committee, the Chinese market has become progressively challenging due to the implementation of stricter regulations.

Luc Ngan Bac Giang's lychee and agricultural products have found their way into certain markets, thanks to the regular solutions provided by the authorities in response to the situation. Market standards are on the rise. The People's Committee of Luc Ngan district has implemented regulations in response to China's Orders 248 and 249. These regulations involve the communication, warning, and regulation of planting area codes for households and packing codes for businesses. The Luc Ngan lychee has found its way into domestic markets through the use of supermarkets and supply chains. Consumers are able to enjoy top-notch, reasonably priced, and freshly harvested produce.
