Quang Nam to become a production and supply center for Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings

(VAN) Quang Nam Province aims to cultivate 10,000 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng by 2035, thereby establishing it as an internationally recognized brand with high export value.

On November 20, the Office of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee announced that Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet had signed a resolution aimed at enhancing the management, conservation and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng in the province until 2030, with a vision toward 2035.

According to the resolution, the province has set a goal to conserve, establish and develop Ngoc Linh ginseng into a high-value economic product and a key provincial commodity with a national brand. During the early stages of implementation, Quang Nam Province will focus on creating a pharmaceutical industry where Ngoc Linh ginseng serves as the primary product.

By 2030, Quang Nam plans to expand its Ngoc Linh ginseng production and supply areas, focusing on Nam Tra My District and other acclimatized regions within the province. Accordingly, the total cultivation area within the province is expected to reach 8,400 hectares. The target output is approximately 100 tons of five-year-old ginseng roots per year.

The province will also upgrade two Ngoc Linh ginseng gene conservation areas, including the Tra Linh medicinal station and the Tak Ngo ginseng farm in Nam Tra My District. Consequently, it aims to produce between 300,000 and 500,000 seedlings per year. This level of output will ensure sufficient supply of high-quality seedlings. Additionally, Quang Nam will establish 30 to 50 large-scale ginseng farms with the participation of local households and businesses. These facilities will be capable of producing between 5 and 10 million seedlings annually.

On the other hand, the province will promote GACP-WHO-compliant production, with an emphasis on technical and quality regulations. Quang Nam will also register collective trademark rights for Ngoc Linh ginseng in targeted export markets and gradually position it as an internationally recognized product.

The province aims to maintain and expand its ginseng cultivation area to 10,000 hectares by 2035. Accordingly, Quang Nam aims to develop into a center for the production and supply of Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings. Furthermore, it will focus on developing Ngoc Linh ginseng into an international brand with high export value, which will contribute significantly to local revenue and improve livelihoods for residents.
