On April 4, STP Group held a ceremony to hand over the first cluster of HDPE cages for aquaculture in Tam Hai Island commune, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam.

The cluster of HDPE cages for aquaculture includes 4-cell and 6-cell clusters of HDPE square cages, with a size of 5x5 m; the 4-cell cluster of HDPE rectangular cages, with a size of 5x10 m; and the cluster of HDPE round cages, with a diameter of 12 m, which were handed over to the investor, Mrs. Nguyen Thi No (Binh Trung village, Tam Hai commune).

At the handover ceremony, Mrs. Nguyen Thi No gladly said that in the past, her family has always dreamed of owning a plastic cage for aquaculture but has not had the conditions to implement one. Recently, with the STP Group’s help and support, her family had access to a cluster of HDPE cages.

"Today, I am very honored to be the first person in Tam Hai Island commune to use this cluster of cages. In my opinion, the product’s quality is very good, and I am satisfied with the supplier’s assembly. Hopefully in the near future, my family's aquaculture will be highly effective with this cluster of cages," stated Investor Nguyen Thi No.

According to Mr. Ngo Tan, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the locality has potential for marine aquaculture with a coastline of 125km. However, in recent time, marine farming has not yet fully promoted the province’s potential and advantages, as well as the annual natural disasters, storms, and floods that have greatly affected households doing this profession.

Faced with that fact, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province has issued the Plan for Development of Marine Aquaculture to 2030, with a vision to 2045. With the goal of developing marine aquaculture into an industrial-scale and modern commodity production industry that creates high-quality products on the basis of promoting research, technology transfer, and application.

"Currently, aquatic resources are gradually exhausted, and the only way to meet the output for export is by developing marine aquaculture in cages." We sincerely thank the corporation for its goodwill, efforts, and for being the first investor in Quang Nam to receive and implement the model.

This is a model that affirms its resistance to storms of levels 12 and 13, ensuring sustainability and economic development for the people and for Quang Nam Province. We will also make efforts to advise the People's Council and Provincial People's Committee to have mechanisms and policies to develop this field to replace traditional farming methods," Deputy Director Ngo Tan said.

In addition to having strength in marine aquaculture, Quang Nam province currently has great potential and space to raise freshwater on hydroelectric reservoirs in the province’s western region. Therefore, the Deputy Director expects that, in the near future, STP Group will research and manufacture a cage system with lower costs and greater sustainability to apply farming to these hydroelectric reservoirs.

At the handover ceremony, the STP Group’s representative said that the first cluster of HDPE cages for aquaculture handed over this time went in line with the spirit of the Quang Nam province’s farming plan. This event shows not only the companionship of STP Group but also the feasibility of the marine farming plan in Quang Nam province when put into practice.

Mr. Vi Quoc Hanh, Deputy Director of Aquaculture Division (STP Group), said, "STP Group, with the mission of developing a sustainable green economic chain, is steadily bringing green solutions to fishermen nationwide. The orientation of STP Group is to accompany the provincial authorities and fishermen, bring technology to aquaculture and transform traditional farming models into industrial farming models with HDPE materials.

STP Group has been and continues to deploy the projects not only in Tam Hai but also across the country. STP Group implements not only the infrastructure for marine farming there but also green models for aquaculture in hydroelectric reservoirs and freshwater and brackish water areas."
