Quang Binh Province sets the target of planting 8,000 hectares of concentrated forests, including 1,000 hectares of large timber forests in 2022.
In 2021, the forest rangers of Quang Binh Province gradually overcame difficulties and challenges to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks.
During the year, the unit strengthened propaganda on forest protection, development, fire prevention and fighting while providing technical training on planting large timber forests and converting small timber forests into large ones. As a result, the awareness of local authorities and people in the area about forest protection and development has positively changed.
The forest protection force of Quang Binh province also focused on monitoring forest developments in order to properly perform forest protection and management; applying science and technology to forest protection; regularly directing units to proactively grasp the situation; supervising, inspecting, promptly detecting, preventing and handling violations in the forestry sector.
In 2021, the total area for forest protection and forest protection support in Quang Binh Province reached over 244,000 hectares. There were 7 forest fires in the area, down 14 cases compared to the previous year. In addition, the damaged forest area was over 23 ha, down 50%; forest-related violations decreased by 15% compared to the previous year. The management of local sawmills and forestry companies were strictly managed.
Currently, the province has 65 seedling production facilities that have produced 30 million plants. Provincial units and localities have planted new forests on 7,769 hectares and cared for over 27,7 hectares of planted forests. Over 3,800 hectares of planted forests have been granted FSC certificates and 7,100 hectares of planted forests have been exploited.
In addition, Quang Binh Forest Protection Department has developed key programs, schemes and projects of the sector; provided advice on the effective implementation of the planning for 3 types of forests and launched the project of developing wood material areas for plantations associated with large timber plantations.
In 2022, Quang Binh Forest Protection Department will focus on properly managing and protecting the existing forest area; implement the conservation of biodiversity; effectively prevent deforestation, illegal forest exploitation; minimize forest fires and damage caused by forest fires; improve productivity, quality and value of planted forests in the area. In particular, the department set the target of planting 8,000 ha of concentrated forests, 1,000 ha of which will be planted with large timber forests.
