According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Binh Province, in this year's forest planting season, localities in Quang Binh Province continued to promote production forest planting. By the end of September, the whole province had planted nearly 6,600 hectares, an increase of 3.5% compared to the plan.

During this process, the quality control of seedlings was implemented quite strictly. The rate of controlled seedlings was about 80%, so the survival rate of planted trees was high. By the end of the forest planting season, Quang Binh is expected to plant 9,500 hectares of concentrated forest (including 700 hectares of large timber).

In addition, Quang Binh continues to implement the plan to plant 10.1 million trees in the 2021-2025 period. In 2024, the plan was to plant 1.855 million trees, and so far 0.7 million trees have been planted. It is expected that the number of trees will increase sharply in the fourth quarter of the forest planting season.

The work of forest protection, development, and conversion of forest use to other purposes has been strengthened and ensured to comply with regulations. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has advised the Provincial People's Committee to assign plans and approve designs and estimates for replacement forest planting when converting forest use to other purposes. Therefore, localities and units are more proactive in developing planted forests in the area.

The local agricultural sector has strengthened guidance and support for organizations and enterprises to build raw material areas in the direction of joint ventures and partnerships with forest growers, establishing cooperatives and groups of forest owners associated with sustainable forest management, and granting FSC forest certification.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) - is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 1993 with the goal of developing and managing sustainable forests worldwide. Present in more than 50 countries with more than 850 members, including non-governmental organizations, scientific research centers, international certification management organizations, community development centers, businesses... The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a prestigious organization that has greatly influenced protecting forests, particularly, and the environment, in general, on a global scale.

FSC certification is a certificate used by forest managers or manufacturers of forest products to ensure criteria for sustainable development, balancing environmental protection values (forests) with the social benefits of stakeholders (producers, society, and local people).

In Quang Binh, an additional 4,500 hectares of production forests have been granted FSC certification this year, increasing the area of FSC-certified forests in the province to 10,800 hectares.
