Develop a roadmap to reduce emissions until 2050

PVCFC has established an Energy Transition Steering Committee and set specific goals in the emissions reduction roadmap. The company aims to reduce about 60 thousand tons of CO2 per year in the period 2023-2030 with the following solutions: Reducing energy consumption according to current load by 115%; Applying ORC technology to generate electricity from waste heat sources; Install Membrane to separate and recover CO2 from the fuel stream; Using solar power to produce green hydrogen.

Since 2012, PVCFC has applied many measures to reduce energy consumption and improve the plant's operating efficiency with 115-116% capacity.

In 2022, Europe's leading copyright house - Haldor Topsoe, recognized PVCFC as being in the "Top 10% of factories with the lowest energy consumption in the world" and a small group of 10% of factories with the lowest energy consumption in the world. It is a testament to PVCFC's commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The solution aims at dual goals: reducing emissions and achieving economic efficiency

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hien - Deputy General Director of PVCFC, said: One of the essential solutions PVCFC is implementing is to make the most of and recover excess CO2 sources to increase urea output and food CO2 production. This carbon-rich gas capture and purification system not only helps reduce fuel costs but also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, PVCFC also has a food CO2 production project for applications in fields such as beverage production, meat processing and packaging, and refrigeration that are being prepared for operation. This project can provide 100 tons of CO2 food daily, expected to bring an economic value of USD 3-4 million annually.

Applying high technology in production

In addition, PVCFC's comprehensive set of solutions to provide plant nutrients is produced on a high-tech production line with slow-dissolving opaque granular Ca Mau Urea to help plants absorb all nutrients, saving costs and money, minimize impact on the environment; Ca Mau NPK fertilizer group uses Europe's leading Poly Phosphate technology with a high effective phosphorus ratio, helping plants absorb quickly and effectively and not precipitate in the soil like normal phosphorus.

Other products such as DAP Ca Mau, Potassium Ca Mau, and other types of protein supplemented with biostimulants or beneficial microorganisms help increase productivity and reduce the amount of fertilizer in the field. OM CAMAU organic fertilizer group is produced from high-quality ingredients containing high organic content, assisting plants in increasing nutrient absorption and resistance.

Program For a Green Vietnam

In addition, in responding to the Prime Minister's call to plant 1 million trees in 2023, PVCFC has implemented the program For a Green Vietnam with the goal of planting 300,000 trees in the period 2023-2025 to improve air quality and environmental protection.

Accompanying the farming community for sustainable development

Not only focusing on reducing emissions and saving energy, PVCFC also actively builds a sustainable farming community. In 2024, the company cooperated with Vietnam Television to produce a series of reports, "Waking up with the Golden Season," broadcast at 5:40 a.m. every Tuesday and Sunday on VTV1 channel.

The program shares practical experiences in crop farming and secrets for harvesting the golden harvest of advanced farmers, aiming to spread the spirit of sustainable agricultural development in the community. In addition, PVCFC also implements many support programs to provide farming knowledge to farmers, such as Golden Tips and knowledge-sharing workshops in many localities.

PVCFC, with its apparent efforts and strategies, not only contributes to the national goal of carbon neutrality but affirms its pioneering role in the sustainable fertilizer industry.

Previously, PVCFC has just announced its strategic orientation for sustainable development.

The strategy not only enhances the Company's competitiveness but also contributes to building a sustainable, green and prosperous future for all stakeholders.

PVCFC Board of Directors orients sustainable development strategies following the Company's strategy, growth goals and enhancing competitiveness.

This orientation is built on compliance with legal regulations and appropriate application of good industry practices such as standards of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, and learning from pioneering fertilizer companies around the world.
