An abundant production area

In order to help the province's agricultural products to be more popular, especially in foreign markets, the province's functional agencies are making efforts to help businesses innovate, perfect products and connect export markets.

Quang Ninh province has an abundant agricultural production area, with 14 fruit-growing regions with an output of about 4,500 tons/year. The average annual fishing output is over 145,000 tons.

The province has also planned 17 concentrated agricultural production areas and applying high technology in production. Currently, a number of enterprises in the province have applied high technologies in crop production, such as 188 Trading and Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, Song Hanh Import-Export and Investment Joint Stock Company, and Son Linh Technology Joint Stock Company, etc.

The freezing capacity of agricultural products of the enterprises in the province is estimated at over 380 tons/day; frozen storage capacity is about 12,000 tons. There are 3 fresh fruit packing facilities; 9 seafood export companies are eligible to export to the Chinese market.

In July 2019, the Vietnam - European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) was officially signed. This is considered an open opportunity for Quang Ninh to expand the market of agricultural products.

In order to meet export requirements, enterprises in the province have gradually innovated the way of production, farming, application of science and technology in production.

At the same time, OCOP products and key OCOP products of the province are developed to serve consumers and export. Up to now, the province has developed a total of 500 OCOP products, of which 238 products are graded with stars.

From 2020 until now, the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh province has supported to connect and introduce products of 21 businesses in the province to Vietnamese counselors abroad such as in Korea, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, India, China.

The Department has also sent a document to sectors, localities and businesses to implement a new policy that would be applied from the beginning of 2022 with regulations on "registration and management of food production imported from abroad" and "import and export food safety management" of the General Administration of Customs of China, in order to create initiative in export activities of enterprises to this potential market.

Improve the quality of export-oriented products

It is known that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ninh province has accompanied, prioritized resources and strengthened support for businesses and cooperatives to access the State's support policies, especially those on machinery, equipment in production, preliminary processing and product processing and policies to support infrastructure for agriculture.

Thereby, the province’s government promotes clean processing, deep processing to improve the quality and added value of agricultural products of the province. In the long term, businesses and cooperatives are encouraged to focus on investing in upgrading factory facilities, ensuring food safety standards according to export standards to meet the export requirements of major markets like China, Europe, etc.

With efforts and thanks to the available advantages many agricultural and aquatic products of the province have met the requirements of foreign markets, and been exported to large and potential markets. Products that worth to be mentioned are candle, fish sauce, seafood, ect, being exported to Taiwan, India, China, UK, Australia, Russia, Malaysia; Binh Lieu vermicelli and other OCOP products are exported to China; or edible oil products of Vegetable Oil Co., Ltd. are exported to Japan market, etc.

From the beginning of the year, the Unit of Import-Export Management of Quang Ninh has verified and issued 17,598 certificates of origin (C/O), the value of goods granted C/O reached US$ 1,044 million. The Unit has also handles the export procedures for over 1,600 tons of agricultural products, an increase of 100% over the same period in 2020, and export procedures for over 3,200 tons of aquatic products, an increase of more than 300% over the same period in 2020.

However, the export output of Quang Ninh's agricultural products to the international market is still not commensurate with the potential and strengths of the province.

Therefore, it is required that Quang Ninh province continue to have many solutions to increase both the output and quality of agricultural products, along with a more effective advertising strategy.

It is known that Quang Ninh is researching and developing a project to develop a key agricultural product chain for the period 2020 - 2025 in order to improve the value of agricultural products, the efficiency and competitiveness of agricultural products.

The goal of the project is not only to meet the increasing demand of the domestic market, but also to export to many countries around the world.
