Only a few days left until Layue, and the Lunar New Year is near. Demand for products is increasing sharply.
Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development of many provinces and cities have devised numerous plans and strategies to ensure the supply of agro-products for the largest consumption period of the year.
Mr. Le Quoc Dien, Deputy Director of Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the province has prepared many kinds of fruits such as mango, tangerine, longan, jackfruit, and lemon for this grand event. The expected total fruit output in 12/2021, 1/2022, and 2/2022 will be 19,000 tons, 22,000 tons, and 35,000 tons respectively.
“Participating in the 970 Agricultural Product Connection Forum is the first step for top farmers in the province to introduce and promote their proud agro-products to domestic and foreign businesses. Hopefully, we will gain more information through this forum to better meet the market demand," said Mr. Dien.
Promoting OCOP products is also a goal Vinh Long and Lang Son set their eyes on.
As shared by Mr. Nguyen Van Liem, Deputy Director of Vinh Long Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vinh Long currently has 74 agro-products with an OCOP certification of 3-star or above.
The province is home to many outstanding and highly evaluated products in the market: Nam Roi pomelo and green-skinned pomelo with an output of 400 tons; watermelon 8,000 tons; cantaloupe 20 tons; scallions 2,000 tons; and red tilapia more than 100 tons.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lang Son province, informed that the province is focusing on promoting OCOP products and particularly the digital platform. Lang Son currently has 80,000 household digital stores, of which 65,000 accounts have had transactions on the platform Lang Son Post Mart.
The province has high expectations for their Chinese mesona products as they have been licensed for official export to China. In addition, Trang Dinh tangerine, also a very popular product of this border province, has an output of 1,000 tons at present. Lang Son will have the fruits harvested timely on the Lunar New Year.
According to statistics on consumer trends over the years, dried meat, processed nuts as well as juices and other beverages receive great interest from consumers in Tet.
In anticipation of this trend, Tay Ninh has proactively developed a plan for beef products, have the meat processed into cooled meat, steak thigh meat, and cooled pork belly. The province also prepared rice paper, custard-apple wine, custard-apple juice, shrimp salt as well as vegetarian foods to offer the market for the year’s special event.
"All of them are certified for food hygiene and safety according to GlobalGAP standards, and qualified as OCOP products of 3-4 stars," said Nguyen Van May, Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
