Pilot process for importing medicinal herbs via Chi Ma border gate

(VAN) Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has recently issued Decision No.2221/QĐ-UBND giving detailed guidelines with five specific steps for a pilot process of importing medicinal herbs through Chi Ma border gate.

The decision aims to controlling medicinal herb imports through Chi Ma border gate and fighting smuggling, counterfeit goods, commercial fraud, and at the same time preventing diseases.

The pilot process for importing medicinal herbs via Chi Ma border gate includes five steps as follows:

Step 1: Controlling the entry of vehicles at Barrier No.1 adjacent to China before medicinal herbs are transported from China to Vietnam.

Step 2: Monitoring, inspecting vehicles at warehouses

Step 3: Conducting quarantine and testing registration

Step 4: Inspecting and sampling

Step 5: Processing testing results

Duties of the relevant agencies including medicinal herb importers, warehouse businesses, customs agency, border guard forces and quarantine units  are detailed and clearly defined in all step mentioned above..

According to the Decision, warehouse businesses have to prepare infrastructures that meet the requirements of inspecting and monitoring imported medicinal herbs. Meanwhile medicinal herb importers have to proactively coordinate with warehouse businesses to ensure the loading, unloading and storage of imported medicinal herbs.

The decision took effect on the date of its signing (November 13, 2021), being applied during the pilot period of importing medicinal herbs through Chi Ma border gate specified in Resolution No.111/ND-CP dated September 23, 2021 of the Government.
