The event, on April 17, welcomed the participation of representative leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, Central Retail Vietnam, P&G Vietnam, Xuan Lien Nature Reserve Management Board (Thanh Hoa), along with famous artists and consumers interested in afforestation.
Within the framework of the project, P&G and Central Retail Vietnam cooperated with their professional partner, Gaia Nature Conservation, to implement afforestation. "Nurturing a green Vietnam" program is expected to plant more than 6,000 trees in different locations. In which, priority will be given to two areas of Xuan Lien forest (belonging to Xuan Lien Nature Reserve, Thanh Hoa province) and Ca Mau forest (belonging to Ca Mau Cape National Park).
The first phase is expected to take place in July 2023. All chosen trees are native precious woods and grey mangroves that contribute to increasing the area of protection forest, regulating water, protecting millions of people in response to climate change.
At the launching ceremony, Ms. Priyamvada Srivastava, Vice President - General Director of P&G Vietnam, said, “Sustainable development has always been at the heart of P&G's business activities and is being implemented in all countries where P&G is present.
"The 'Nurturing a green Vietnam' initiative is an important part of P&G's efforts across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa to actively protect nature by planting forests that help improving the local biodiversity and ecosystem, I also believe that the program will make a difference in Vietnam”.
According to Ms. Priyamvada Srivastava, P&G Vietnam will continuously carry out sustainable development activities, communication activities, and raise awareness about environmental protection for employees, partners, and the community.
This meaningful initiative aims to promote environmental protection and inspire consumers to take an active role in protecting the earth. Through the program, consumers can directly contribute to afforestation activities by purchasing P&G products at Central Retail's supermarkets including GO!, Big C and Tops Market.
From now until April 26, when shopping for P&G products at GO!, Big C, Tops Market, with a total value of VND 399,000 per order, consumers have contributed one forest tree to this meaningful project. Consumers participating in the program will also receive gift vouchers of VND 20,000 or VND 50,000 for each bill.
“The initiative 'Nurturing a green Vietnam' is completely in line with our values of social responsibility and sustainability. We hope that this initiative will raise awareness about the importance of reforestation to protect the green planet and inspire everyone to take action for a more sustainable future. Moreover, we will also directly participate in forest reforestation and reforestation activities,” said Mr. Olivier Langlet, Group CEO of Central Retail Vietnam.
