The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) held a press conference on April 8 to provide information regarding the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit 2025.
Nguyen Minh Vu, Permanent Deputy Minister of MOFA, announced that Vietnam will host the fourth P4G Summit in Hanoi from April 14-17, 2025, with the theme "Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition."
This year P4G Summit will be the largest multilateral high-level summit on green growth that Vietnam will host during the 2021-2026 period, showcasing Vietnam's role, responsibility, and contributions to P4G and the collective efforts to promote green growth and sustainable development.
The P4G Summit confirmed Vietnam's commitment to achieving its international obligations regarding climate change, emission reduction, and growth model transformation, as well as mobilizing international resources to support the country's development objectives.
Approximately 800 to 1,000 delegates will attend the events, which offer platforms for delegates to exchange their perspectives, policies, and experiences regarding green growth, thereby enhancing the global action message – practical, effective, and robust synergy to address broader challenges.
Seven significant events will be presided over by Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during the main summit activities on April 16-17.
Activities on April 16 include a high-level discussion session, the opening ceremony, a welcome reception, and delegate registration. Five simultaneous ministerial-level thematic sessions will be held on the following day, covering topics such as resource mobilization, food systems transformation, innovative solutions, human resource training, and efficient and sustainable energy transition.
The summit will hopefully conclude with the adoption of the "Hanoi Declaration on P4G," which will affirm commitments to sustainable development centred on people and responsible action to address global challenges.
At Denmark's initiative, the P4G Forum (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) was established in 2017. It aims to promote green growth and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals by connecting governments, businesses, and socio-political organizations to align policies and cultivate public-private partnerships.
P4G's recent collaboration is concentrated on five priority areas: the reduction of food loss and waste, the promotion of climate-smart agriculture, the assurance of sustainable water sources, the advancement of renewable energy, and the support of zero-emission transport.
P4G consists of nine member countries – Denmark, Vietnam, South Korea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, and South Africa – as well as five partner organizations. One of P4G's notable achievements is its provision of financial and technical support to small and micro-enterprises working in climate change mitigation.
A number of thematic sessions are included in the conference agenda. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will preside over the high-level panel discussion, "Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition."
