On the evening of October 13, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Central Vietnam Farmers' Union chaired and coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a Ceremony to Honor and Award the Title of Vietnam 100 Outstanding Farmers and praises 63 typical cooperatives in 2023.
The event commemorates the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2023) and aims to welcome the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (term 2023 - 2028) within the Proud Vietnamese Farmers Program framework in 2023.
100 outstanding farmers, 83 men, and 17 women, were selected from a nomination list of 250 outstanding farmers nationwide. They operate in various fields, especially excellent farmers doing eco-tourism and developing circular agricultural economic models. Many inventions of outstanding farmers are beneficial and contribute effectively to the production process of farmers.
Many farmers have cooperative models and effective production links and have contributed positively to the movement to build new rural areas and protect national security.
Along with 100 outstanding farmers, the program honored 63 typical cooperatives propagated, mobilized, and guided to establish by the Vietnam Farmers' Union.
Through activities of the Union at all levels, nearly 570,000 farmer households participated in household group projects to build production and business models, establishing more than 23,000 effective collective economic models. Of these, over 3,800 cooperatives and over 19,000 cooperative groups have an average revenue of VND 4.7 billion and a profit of VND 350 million annually.
In particular, outstanding farmers' profits, revenue, and production scale in 2023 are superior to the previous 10 votes.
Mr. Luong Quoc Doan, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union acknowledged that honoring outstanding Vietnamese farmers and praising typical cooperatives nationwide aims to encourage her spirit. Farmers continue to expand production, attracting more and more farmer members, households, individuals, and organizations to participate in economic cooperation.
According to Mr. Doan, a class of typical farmers who excel in production and business is forming. Along with that, the emulation movement to build new rural areas has created many exemplary farmers donating land, contributing effort and money to build infrastructure, and helping families in difficult circumstances develop production and improve life.
These efforts help agriculture and rural areas promote their role as a pillar of the economy, making significant contributions to innovation development and accelerating the country's industrialization and modernization process.
The Central Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union believes that the pride and honor of each farmer receiving the title "Oustanding Farmers" and "Typical Cooperatives" today will continue to spread to many farmers nationwide.
Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man expressed his hope that through the event on the evening of October 13, farmers' unions at all levels will continue to promote information, propaganda, and widespread dissemination of guidelines, policies, and laws of the Party and State, especially in the fields of agriculture, farmers and rural areas. At the same time, firmly spread the example of good people and good deeds.
With 100 excellent farmers and 63 typical agricultural cooperatives, Mr. Man wishes to continue to be at the forefront of cooperation, production, and business linkages, creating safer, quality products that are competitive in the world market. Along with that is the dedication of strength and intelligence, helping many other farmers to become rich legitimately and many cooperatives to develop.
Records of 100 Vietnam Outstanding Farmers 2023
- Mr. Le Van Sam in Ben Tre is the farmer with the biggest profit. With the white leg shrimp farming model of 30 hectares of production area applying high technology, he has a VND 50 billion VND/year profit.
- The oldest farmer is Mr. Chang Vang Sinh - 71 years old in Dien Bien.
- The youngest farmer is Mr. Hoang Van Duan - 30 years old in Bac Kan.
- The farmer with the most significant chain link is Mr. Nguyen Viet Vi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuoc Thien Trade and Service Cooperative, Binh Phuoc. His cooperative has 22 members with a farming area of about 100 hectares. The chain linking neighboring areas is up to 2,000 hectares.
- Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huan in Can Tho is the farmer who creates the most jobs. With the model of growing high-quality rice seeds and rice of Khiet Tam Agricultural Cooperative, of which he is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director, it has created regular jobs for 120 workers, with a stable income of VND 6.5 - 8 million/month.
