This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City has organized the OCOP Product Week and regional-specific products, with the participation of provinces and cities in 5 regions that have signed economic and social cooperation agreements with Ho Chi Minh City, including Mekong Delta, Southeast, Central Highlands, South Central Coast, the North and North Central regions. This event aims to affirm the role of Ho Chi Minh City as an effective bridge and important trade promotion channel in the agricultural sector of regions throughout the country.
At the ceremony, Mr. Ngo Minh Chau, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized that this event will help introduce, promote trade promotion and promote supply and demand connection between businesses, production facilities for OCOP products and regionally specific products in provinces and cities of the 5 regions and Ho Chi Minh City. This will help directly reach distribution businesses and consumers in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as international visitors".
OCOP Product Week and Regionally Typical Products 2023 has the participation of 439 businesses and nearly 1,200 products. Among them, there are 716 OCOP products with 3 - 5 stars. Ho Chi Minh City will have 20 businesses and 80 OCOP products, of which 59 products achieve 3 - 5 stars.
This event provides opportunities and conditions for farmers' OCOP products to develop and reach larger markets. It also helps effectively connect OCOP products and regionally specific products to trade channels in Ho Chi Minh City and internationally. From there, the brand value of products will be enhanced, the process of building new rural areas will accelerate and farmers' lives will improve.
At the same time, this event also promotes the transfer of technology and knowledge about agriculture and rural development, creating conditions for business in Ho Chi Minh City, provinces, and cities. They can learn about and invest in agricultural projects applying high technology and deep processing of specific local agricultural products.
Mr. Mai Van Khanh, Director of Rasafood Cooperative brought to the event a bok choy product that achieved OCOP 3 stars. “Through the program, we have the opportunity to introduce the cooperative's clean products to consumers across the country and, at the same time, connect with distribution channels to expand consumption markets" - Mr. Khanh shared.
Ms. Vu Thi Tham (Gia Phu Food Processing Cooperative) brought to the event products made from black pork and local buffalo meat. “The program acts as a bridge to help businesses with products that meet OCOP standards reach more customers, at the same time, these products are also an opportunity for us to promote local culture" - Ms. Tham shared.
OCOP Product and Regionally Featured Products Week 2023 takes place in 3 days, from October 27 - 29, 2023 at Le Thi Rieng Cultural Park, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.
