On the morning of November 20, a shipment of bird's nests from Vietnam was exported to China for the first time through the Bac Luan II border gate (Mong Cai City). Photo: Nguyen Thanh.
The shipment, consisting of ready-to-eat bird's nests in jars and processed bird's nests, totalled 634 cartons with a weight of nearly 10 tons. The export declaration was made at the Mong Cai Customs Department by AVANEST Vietnam Nutrition Joint Stock Company, with the partner being Dongxing Zhenpin Preferred Trading Co., Ltd. (Dongxing, China).
This marks the first time that a Vietnamese company's bird's nest shipment has been exported to China via the Bac Luan II border gate, signalling a positive start to cooperation between the two countries' businesses. It also opens up a formal export market for Vietnamese bird's nest products to the promising Chinese market.
Since late 2023, the first batches of Vietnamese bird's nest products have officially been exported to China under the protocol signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China on November 9, 2022.
This development is a significant opportunity and motivator for the Vietnamese bird's nest industry to grow, ensuring stable demand for products, generating high economic benefits, and creating numerous jobs for local communities.
To effectively implement the protocol and develop the Vietnamese bird's nest industry in a sustainable manner while maintaining the country's bird's nest brand, the Department of Animal Health (MARD) has proactively coordinated with the General Administration of Customs of China to finalize the export quarantine certificate model.
Additionally, the Department of Animal Health issued official Letter No. 2163/TY-HTQT on December 26, 2022, providing guidelines for companies on registering bird's nest exports from Vietnam to China.
The quality of Vietnam's bird's nest products is considered superior to those of other countries in the region.
Currently, AVANEST Vietnam Nutrition Joint Stock Company is the first enterprise to be granted an export code by the General Administration of Customs of China, allowing it to export two product categories: processed bird's nests and ready-to-eat bird's nests in jars.
According to the representative from the Mong Cai International Border Gate Management Board, the export of the first bird's nest shipment to China has concretized the protocol signed between the two countries. It also demonstrates that exporting companies have quickly grasped and oriented the market towards a sustainable model, focusing on official exports.
