In her capacity as the ambassador for the Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 pageant, the current Miss Earth, Mina Sue Choi, spent some time in Vietnam earlier this year and participated in a number of events that were focused on the environment. In this event, the Korean pageant, the President of Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 Truong Ngoc Anh, and other ambassadors traveled to the Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve to conduct a survey and plant the very first batch of seedlings for the "Miss Earth" forest that would be created in Dong Nai.
The theme "Me love tree" will be echoed throughout the event in an effort to promote the mission of Miss Earth Vietnam 2023. The organizing board has set a target to cover the ground with green trees in an area of 1.5 hectares, and the forest will be titled "Miss Earth" in a number of national parks and reserves around the country.
In particular, the Gaia Nature Conservation Center (Gaia) collaborates with Miss Earth Vietnam as an advisory partner on environmental initiatives and assists with the implementation of afforestation efforts.
Truong Ngoc Anh, the president of Miss Earth Vietnam 2023, stated that the competition is not only limited to a beauty pageant, but that it also seeks to bring the value of spreading, sharing the community's sense of environmental protection, promoting love for nature, and spreading the love for trees in Vietnam to everyone. As a result, "Miss Earth loves tree" has been chosen as the topic for the inaugural Miss Earth Vietnam competition, which will take place in Vietnam.
According to the President of Miss Earth Vietnam 2023, the afforestation to create the "Miss Earth" forest will be a long and consistent journey that will also serve as the objective of future generations of Miss Earth Vietnam.
Mina Sue Choi, the current holder of the title of Miss Earth, expressed that she is overjoyed and honored to have been selected as the ambassador for Miss Earth Vietnam 2023. She believes that this is an excellent chance for her to gain knowledge, demonstrate dedication, and inspire others on the preservation of natural resources.
"Mina is overjoyed to be a part of the effort to safeguard one of Vietnam's remaining elephant herds by planting native trees at the Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve. At the same time, making a contribution toward the maintenance of water safety for the residents of Ho Chi Minh City and the regions that surround it. I hope that the community will love and support the Miss Earth forest," she stated.
Climate change and the El Nino impact, as stated by Ms. Do Thi Thanh Huyen, Director of the Gaia Nature Conservation Center, are becoming a challenge for the entire planet. As a result, it is imperative that immediate action be taken in order to safeguard the depleted planet. And the establishment of new woodlands should be one of humanity's primary goals. The verdant and peaceful forests serve an important role in a number of ways, including the absorption of greenhouse gas emissions, the regulation of water supplies, the protection of humans from natural catastrophes such as storms and floods, and the contribution to the fight against climate change.
"We will do our best as a consultant for Miss Earth Vietnam 2023, contributing to spreading the love of nature and forest to the contestants, helping them understand, love, and be ready to amplify the message to protect nature, protect forests to everyone," Huyen said. "We will do our best to help the contestants understand, love, and be ready to amplify the message to protect nature, protect forests to everyone."
