Many livestock projects in Quang Tri Province encounter problems

(VAN) Quang Tri Province commits to providing support for investors of high-tech livestock projects that are facing problems related to land and the environment.

Up to now, the central province of Quang Tri has received 13 dossiers of proposals for hi-tech breeding projects including eight projects in Cam Lo district and five projects in Dakrong district with a total scale of 29,900 sows/year, 306,000 porkers/year and 2,000 beef cattle/year.

The total investment capital of the projects is more than VND2,800 billion The projects are expected to use more than 560 hectares. The Provincial People's Committee is responsible for considering approving the projects.

During the appraisal process, the projects met the investment criteria as regulated. However, the proposed locations for implementing hi-tech pig breeding projects were now not matched with the districts’ land use planning by 2030. Some land plots have not yet been approved by the Provincial People's Committee.  Meanwhile, in some projects, the project areas are a bit large, the efficiency of land use is not guaranteed, thus they need adjusting.

In particular, the high-tech pig farming project in Vinh Linh district, although granted an investment policy, has not yet been implemented because the allocated area is still managed and used by Ben Hai Forestry One Member Limited Company. The district has not yet prepared a land-use plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. Some residents are concerned about environmental issues during the project implementation.

Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee said that these are all projects on the list of prioritised high-tech investment and development in the province. At the same time, investors have had the process of studying and demonstrating their investment capacity in the locality.

With problems related to land and environment, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province suggested that Dakrong and Cam Lo districts continue to accompany and provide maximum support for investors to take the next steps in the fastest and most suitable way.

The district committees were asked to adjust land use planning with the economic development strategy of the province. The District People's Council would consider and pass resolutions over the related issues to ensure legitimacy.
