On June 28, the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City International Food Industry Exhibition 2023 (HCMC Foodex 2023) officially opened at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center - SECC, District 7.

The food industry plays a vital role in socioeconomic development and faces innovation requirements to increase competitiveness and meet market requirements.

The participation in signing many Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and the issue of ensuring food security are being concerned by many countries in the face of the risk of the global food crisis, which has brought many opportunities and advantages for the development of enterprises in the food production and processing industry in Vietnam.

Domestic enterprises have quickly seized the opportunity, investing heavily in modern equipment and technology to improve production capacity, product quality, and branding and product promotion to participate in the world's food supply chain.

The world's leading import and consumption markets, such as the United States, Europe, and China... are increasingly demanding the sustainability of products, including the entire supply chain's social, environmental, and economic.

According to Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, for the city's food processing industry to continue to develop and maintain its role as a critical production industry, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has issued a Program supporting the development of enterprises and products of the food processing industry in Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2020 - 2030.

"This is considered one of the breakthrough programs for the city to focus on implementing policies to support businesses, mobilize resources for investment and development for the food and food industry," said Duc.

Tran Phu Lu, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), said that HCMC Foodex 2023, with the theme "Connecting values for mutual development" attracted the participation of more than 200 domestic and international businesses and units with many B2B trade connection activities.

Exhibition with nearly 250 booths gathering leading brands in the field of food and foodstuffs of Ho Chi Minh City, such as Vinamilk, Binh Tay Food, Bidrico, Sagri, Cholimex, Satra, Vissan); The Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City's Hi-tech Agriculture Zone, the showrooms in the localities of Long An, Ben Tre, Dong Thap... will display and introduce products belonging to the group of raw/preliminarily processed food products (agricultural products, seafood, spices...); groups of food products are processed deeply; beverage product group; groups of raw materials used in the food processing industry; groups of machinery and equipment for production, packaging, preservation, and related industries.

Thereby contributing to the general introduction of the dynamic development of the food processing industry in Ho Chi Minh City and helping to promote quality products and businesses with reputable brands in the food industry, promoting business cooperation opportunities, and attracting adequate investment resources towards export.

"HCMC Foodex 2023 is not only a bridge to help domestic and international businesses have the opportunity to cooperate, exchange and share advanced technologies in the field of food production and processing, making a positive contribution to helping the food industry to develop sustainably in the future; visitors to the exhibition also have direct access to a variety of Vietnamese agricultural products and brands and experience products with rich colors and bold traditions of Vietnam and other countries around the world", said Lu.

This is also a place where businesses operating in all value chain segments of the food industry at home and abroad can discuss, exchange ideas, establish professional business relationships, and grow together.

HCMC Foodex 2023 is organized with the desire to support food production enterprises to introduce products with Vietnamese brands and good quality to the world market; support businesses to connect and trade, access information, and develop a strategy to innovate machinery and advanced technology into the production process, helping to improve competitiveness, product quality and expand domestic and export markets.

The highlight of HCMC Foodex 2023 is programs and activities to introduce and promote Vietnamese and international culinary culture throughout the exhibition period. HCMC Foodex 2023 is expected to attract 18,000 visitors to work and visit the program.
