Looking for consumers willing to pay for organic agricultural products

On August 19 and 20, 2023, the 6th Phu My Hung Green Festival - 2023 with the theme "Green living - healthy living" took place in the Phu My Hung Urban Area (District 7, Ho Chi Minh City). The festival was a venue for the exchange and introduction of agricultural products, food, green-clean products, decorative trees, and environmentally friendly household goods.

Participating for the first time in the Phu My Hung Green Festival, Ninh Thuan Organic Agriculture Investment Group Joint Stock Company (Organic Ninh Thuan) displayed and introduced a variety of high-quality organic agricultural products from Ninh Thuan, such as durian, green grapefruit, melon, apple, guava, etc.

Specifically, Organic Ninh Thuan's exhibit featured a variety of natural products produced by the Raglai people in Phuoc Binh commune, Bac Ai district (Ninh Thuan), including snow bananas, wild bananas, dwarf bananas, preserved bananas, black beans, lingzhi, bamboo shoots, etc. These products are of excellent quality, but they have been consumed locally for a long time; therefore, they need to be promoted and introduced extensively on the market, particularly in large cities such as Ho Chi Minh City. 

Phan Thanh But, General Director of Organic Ninh Thuan, stated that the Phu My Hung Green Festival is an occasion for the Group to introduce the organic and natural agricultural products of Ninh Thuan, delivering the highest quality products to consumers. Approaching affluent consumers with a strong interest in healthy products will increase the value of organic and natural products and aid producers in Ninh Thuan, particularly in terms of minority economic development.

In addition to promoting the introduction and promotion of organic and pure natural products of Ninh Thuan, Organic Ninh Thuan has a strategy to promote the production of organic products on the "sunshine and wind of Ninh Thuan" land in order to meet the rising demand on the domestic market and for export abroad.

According to Mr. But, the development of organic agriculture in Ninh Thuan has a number of significant benefits. First, Ninh Thuan has very few industrial facilities, so the air is still very clean. Ninh Than has a significant area of agricultural land, but almost no chemical fertilizers and pesticides have been used thus far. The water source in Ninh Thuan has improved in recent years as a result of large irrigation projects; the water supply for these projects comes from the highlands, so it is extremely pure, etc. 

In addition to being surrounded by mountains, Ninh Thuan enjoys high temperatures and abundant sunlight. These conditions are favorable for cultivating fruit trees, including organic fruit trees. Numerous crops in Ninh Thuan are of much superior quality than their counterparts in other regions.

Organic Ninh Thuan has recently begun guiding farmers to produce fruits and agricultural products in accordance with organic standards, GlobalGAP, beginning in Phuoc Binh commune, then expanding to Bac Ai and Ninh Son districts. Organic Ninh Thuan will coordinate for farmers in the Phuoc Binh commune to produce in accordance with the registration requirements for organic certification or GlobalGAP certification. There are currently 23 hectares of green-skinned pomelos with area codes for export to the United States in Phuoc Binh.

Currently, Organic Ninh Thuan has relationships with numerous international clients. This year, the Group will promote the export of 20,000 tons of rice that has been processed. There are currently 44,000 hectares in Ninh Thuan producing rice varieties for processing. This is an essential primary material region for Organic Ninh Thuan's rice exports.

Ninh Thuan is pushing ahead with agriculture restructuring, with a focus on high-tech agriculture in combination with digital economy and digital transformation, taking this a breakthrough solution to promote agricultural production and improve people’s living standards.The value of the local agricultural sector is expected to increase 4-5% this year, and that of high-tech agricultural production set to grow 30-40%.

Organic Ninh Thuan will also promote apple exports in addition to rice. Organic Ninh Thuan is targeting selective markets such as Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Europe, etc. In addition, Organic Ninh Thuan will promote the introduction, promotion, and distribution of natural, organic products for the domestic market.
