Loc Troi needs nearly 500 agricultural extension officers

(VAN) Loc Troi Agricultural Service Co., Ltd. needs to order 490 community extension officers to develop a 100,000-ha raw rice area in Kien Giang.

Mr. Le Van Dung, Deputy Director of Kien Giang Agricultural Extension Center said, for the winter-spring rice crop 2022 - 2023, Loc Troi Agricultural Service Company Limited (An Giang) has a plan to link production and develop a 100,000 ha of raw rice area in Kien Giang province.

Specifically, the implementation area includes Hon Dat districts of 31,000 ha, and Giang Thanh and Kien Luong districts areas are 15,000 ha each. Giong Rieng and Tan Hiep district implementation area is 10,000 ha, and the remaining districts of An Bien, U Minh Thuong, Vinh Thuan, Chau Thanh, and Go Quao each have an implementation area of 2,000 - 5,000 ha.

The material areas specialized in high-quality rice varieties are Jasmine 85, OM18, OM5451, ST24 and DS1.

To develop the above-mentioned raw rice area, Loc Troi Agricultural Service Co., Ltd. needs community agricultural extension forces to participate in the implementation with a number of 490 people. This is equivalent to each agricultural extension office supporting the management of more than 20ha of production area.

The Company also proposed the work of the community agricultural extension force to support the deployment of raw materials, organize periodic training and technical advice for farmers, monitor and inspect the implementation process of farmers under the association contract, update information on crops and pests in the area, collect information and data related to the production process for the cooperatives participating in the raw material area and organize the price fixing according to the process at the time of harvest.

The method of linking and developing raw rice areas is currently signed by the company and agricultural cooperatives. The company will invest, supply all input agricultural materials, and guide and support production techniques for participating cooperative members. The cooperatives organize production and harvest according to the instructions, processes and management methods of the Company, and at the same time deliver the rice to the Company after harvesting.

Before entering the production season, Loc Troi Agricultural Service Co., Ltd and cooperatives will agree on the production area, the location of the raw material area, the cooperation time, rice varieties, yield, quality and committed profit.

Other than Loc Troi, many units and businesses also need to cooperate with the community agricultural extension force in organizing production. Photo: Trung Chanh.

The investment company does not charge interest on agricultural materials for farmers, including rice seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, agricultural services such as ploughing and drones that take care of and protect rice and harvesters.

In addition, the company also organizes sowing "in-season" to maximize the capacity of mechanized machines for production, especially drying plants, to ensure the quality of rice when processing and exporting. Additionally, this includes the planning and stably developing rice production areas of the localities following the needs of businesses.

In addition to "ordering" the community agricultural extension force to participate in the development of raw material areas, Loc Troi Agricultural Service Co., Ltd. propose the local agricultural sector guide and support cooperatives to register the planting area code and trace the origin. Simultaneously, digitize the management and non-cash transactions for cooperatives, facilitating payment after rice purchase. In the immediate future, there have been two farmer organizations participating in this model, My Thai Cooperative (Hon Dat district) and Giong Tuong Cooperative (Giong Rieng district, Kien Giang province), with an area of 5,000 ha each.
