On the morning of March 15, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment coordinated with the Electronic Magazine for Nature and Environment to organize the Launching Ceremony of the Vietnamese Heritage Trees Writing Contest.
Attending the launching ceremony were Dr Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment; Prof. Dr Dang Huy Huynh, ASEAN Biodiversity Hero, Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council; Dr Tran Van Mieu, Vice President of Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment; Associate Professor, Dr Tran Ngoc Hai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council; journalist Phung Quang Chinh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council; journalist Ta Viet Anh - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Electronic Magazine for Nature and Environment. Attending the launching ceremony were also representatives of central and local news and press agencies.
At the launching ceremony, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment said, the contest is a continuation of the works that have been posted by the community on the media. It is an opportunity to honour quality works to educate and encourage people to join hands in preserving ancient trees, including Vietnamese heritage trees.
"Vietnamese Heritage Trees Writing Contest" is held annually to promote propaganda work, and education, and mobilize the community to raise awareness about protecting natural landscapes, biodiversity, and environmental protection in the context of climate change. This is an activity with practical significance, demonstrating the spirit of action and high determination to protect precious genetic species and promote biodiversity values associated with historical and cultural values.
According to the Organizing Committee, participants in the contest include professional and amateur writers at home and abroad. Contest entries are written in Vietnamese and have not been published or issued in books, newspapers, or magazines, and have not participated in competitions organized by ministries, branches and central organizations. Contest entries are encouraged to include illustrations.
An author or group of authors can submit multiple works to the competition. The contest prioritizes authors who write creatively, exploiting unique and attractive perspectives associated with folk stories and people's cultural life. The time to receive contest entries is from March 15, 2024, to September 30, 2024.
