Recently, Truong Sinh International Science Development Co., Ltd. (Truong Sinh Group) organized a program of exchange, connecting supply and demand, and buying, selling, processing, and distributing Ngoc Linh ginseng. The program has the participation of many businesses and farmer households that own Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province.

Facing the situation that the Ngoc Linh Ginseng brand was taken advantage of, directly affecting producers and businessmen, businesses and growers jointly discussed the story of brand protection and forming a closed linkage from production and processing to product consumption.

Owning a Ngoc Linh ginseng garden with a value of several tens of billions of dongs in Nam Tra My district (Quang Nam province), Mr. Nguyen Van Luong opened with a story of brand protection. "Recently, Ngoc Linh ginseng was counterfeited, affecting genuine ginseng growers like us. Not only that, it also damages the Ngoc Linh Ginseng brand, which is honored as 'Vietnam's National Treasure'. Today, gathering many businesses, I wish us to form a linkage in Ngoc Linh ginseng production, processing, and consumption in order to protect the brand and fight against counterfeit goods," said Mr. Luong.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, Director of Quang Nam Cultivation and Pharmaceutical Processing JSC, said that “We have approximately 10,000 Ngoc Linh ginseng roots that are more than 4 years old and have been granted a certificate of geographical indication for ginseng root. What we are worried about is that the current counterfeit ginseng problem is growing too strongly, fearing that by the time it is harvested, it may be depreciated, not as expected. It's time we needed a close linkage from ginseng growers to processors and consumers.

"Growing Ngoc Linh ginseng is very time-consuming and difficult to do. In particular, it takes a lot of time for Ngoc Linh ginseng to achieve quality and have saponin content. However, when surfing online, it is seen that everyone sells Ngoc Linh ginseng. So, it is certain that there cannot be so many Ngoc Linh ginsengs for sale like that. It's time we, the truth-tellers, formed a linkage to eliminate counterfeit ginseng. Only in this way can consumers access quality Ngoc Linh ginseng with food safety and hygiene assurance, thereby bringing health to consumers, "said Mr. Cuong.

Mr. Phan Thanh Thien, General Director of Truong Sinh Group, said that facing the situation of counterfeit ginseng rampant in the market, the protection of Vietnam's Ngoc Linh Ginseng brand needs to be a top priority, especially for deeply processed products.

"Truong Sinh Group will make efforts to accompany ginseng gardens to carry out the promotion and introduction, helping to raise the value of Ngoc Linh ginseng not only in the domestic market but also in the whole world," shared Mr. Thien.

According to Mr. Thien, over the past time, Truong Sinh has received the trust of many ginseng-growing enterprises in Quang Nam province for choosing to sign a cooperation agreement on the consumption and distribution of Ngoc Linh ginseng.

In the program of connecting supply and demand, buying, selling, processing, and distributing Ngoc Linh ginseng, Truong Sinh Group signed cooperation agreements with businesses and owners of Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens in Quang Nam province to provide quality raw ginseng products, meeting the standards to serve the process of production and consumption of products.

Previously, Kon Tum province also deployed solutions to curb the rampant spread of counterfeit ginseng in the market, including the issuance of geographical indication for Ngoc Linh ginseng. Accordingly, the Department of Science and Technology of Kon Tum Province has issued a certificate of the right to use the geographical indication "Ngoc Linh" for ginseng root products to Ngoc Linh Kon Tum Ginseng JSC (Kon Tum City, Kon Tum Province) and Ngoc Linh Tu Mo Rong Kon Tum Ginseng JSC (Tu Mo Rong District, Kon Tum Province).

According to Mr. Huynh Trung Kim, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Kon Tum Province, with the current situation of counterfeit Ngoc Linh ginseng rampant in the market, the issuance of geographical indication certification will help authenticate companies genuinely cultivating Ngoc Linh ginseng within the geographical indication area and meeting the necessary criteria for market release.
