On March 17, 2022, in Binh Phu commune, Cang Long district, Tra Vinh province, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province coordinated with the Green Economy Institute to organize the inauguration ceremony of the Project Smart cold storage illustrate model funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium and the Ice-Loft Company.
After more than 2 years of active implementation under extremely difficult conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the project has now finished construction and officially went into operation.
The project is the first model in a plan to develop a cold logistics corridor to support the export of agro-products to European countries in the context that Vietnam’s agro-products are being congested and abandoned at previous border gates due to the effects of the pandemic.
With an investment scale of more than €1 million across a total land area of about 1,000m2 and the application of modern IoT sensor technology, the Smart cold storage illustrate model is the optimal model in high-tech agro-product preservation techniques.
The model is not only capable of regulating and closely monitoring the storage environment of agro-products through remote control, but also can automatically register and manage
product details (type, origin, quality, size, garden’s name…), helping agro-products maintain their quality and fresh for a long period, meeting export standards, helping customers to easily trace the origin, discover product information, as well as support farmers in management and planning of planting regions.
In addition, the Model is also equipped with a solar energy system that will help save electricity, costs and protect the environment during operation.
Apart from connecting and accompanying during the project’s construction and implementation; over the next 6 months, the Green Economy Institute is also in charge of technical training, guiding farmers to use the smart cold storage; transferring construction, installation and operation technologies to domestic units and resources... in order to increase the localization rate in this field.
Additionally, with the desire to support output for farmers, the Green Economy Institute also organized trade connection activities with large enterprises to promote exports to Europe.
Especially the program of cooperation and trade development with the Delegation of the European Union to find major clients accompanying Vietnam’s agro-products to Europe.
