On the afternoon of April 4, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organized the Central Highlands Region Investment Promotion Conference in 2024 with the participation of over 300 delegates from the Central Highlands provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
In recent times, Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands provinces have signed a cooperation agreement for socio-economic development in many different fields, based on exploiting the strengths of each locality.
Of which, Ho Chi Minh City will use advantages such as a favorable geographical location, developed technical infrastructure, diverse and quality human resources, and a strong scientific and technical base. Besides, Ho Chi Minh City acts as a center connecting with the Southeast region, the Mekong Delta region, and the Central Highlands region.
The Central Highlands region possesses a rich forest resource. In addition, this region is also known for its land advantages, especially soil types suitable for growing industrial crops. The Central Highlands are also diverse in mineral resources, including minerals with large reserves such as peat, brown coal, kaolin, etc.
The Central Highlands also have considerable tourism development potential, with a system of lakes, waterfalls, and rich flora and fauna. The sub-regions with temperate and cool climates in the Central Highlands are also suitable for the type of resort tourism.
According to Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan, the development of Ho Chi Minh City always goes hand in hand with the development of localities nationwide, including the Central Highlands provinces. In recent times, the socio-economic development cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands provinces and cities has had strong impacts in promoting production and consumption of products, promoting the flow of transport goods, and meeting the needs of people in the provinces and cities in particular and the whole Central Highlands region in general.
The Central Highlands Region Investment Promotion Conference in 2024 is an opportunity to promote untapped potential. Thereby, representatives of the Central Highlands provinces and Ho Chi Minh City recognized and re-evaluated the strengths and potentials of each locality.
"Through the conference, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee expects businesses in the city as well as businesses in other provinces to research and invest in lands with many opportunities for success, like the Central Highlands. From there, open up opportunities for the sustainable and harmonious development of both localities, contributing to consolidating and further developing the relationship between the two localities in the coming future," Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said.
At the conference, Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands provinces called for investment in 558 projects in the fields of transportation infrastructure, high-tech agriculture, production and processing, eco-tourism, services trade, logistics, healthcare, etc. Among them, the two localities with the highest number of projects calling for investment are Lam Dong (217 projects) and Kon Tum (157 projects).
