GrowMax Aquafeed Company Limited and Vietnam Agriculture News announced the establishment of the Growmax Study Encouragement Fund in Dong Nai on August 8. It attempts to encourage underprivileged youngsters in coastal areas of Vietnam to pursue education.

Director of GrowMax Aquafeed Company Limited Mai Van Hoang remarked: "Knowledge is the best way to enhance the lives of disadvantaged children.  However, not all children are so privileged since the educational fee is a burden for them".

I recognize the struggles because I was born in a poor rural coastal area. Over 22 years of working in the fishery and interacting with countless shrimp farmers around the country, I am sympathetic to their arduousness and difficulties. Somewhere, there are unfortunate lives, many families are extremely difficult, and many youngsters cannot attend a school or attend school under challenging conditions due to a lack of funds for tuition, books, and educational materials".

Especially in the year 2022, coastal residents face more difficulties as a result of the inability of many fishing vessels to leave port owing to rising oil and petroleum prices. Aquaculture is vulnerable to several disease threats that result in production losses.

The rising cost of aquaculture production inputs is a source of difficulty for rural farmers. Numerous farmers incur repeated losses and are forced to quit their jobs. This makes an already challenging situation for many households much more difficult. As a result, the students in these regions may face additional family troubles, and many youngsters may be at threat of dropping out of school.

Hoang added that, as a businessman in the fishery industry with an endless passion for shrimp, he is not only concerned with the career path but is also constantly focused on how to help underprivileged children acquire a better life, particularly children in coastal areas to maintain their educational progress.
