Global advancements: South-South cooperation for shared growth

(VAN) Vietnam is dedicated to ensuring food security and transforming the agricultural sector from a significant emitter into a contributor to emission reduction.

With climate change disrupting the usual balance of nature, Vietnam's agricultural sector is actively pursuing the Prime Minister's commitment made at COP26 to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This commitment materializes through the proactive development of the 'Sustainable Development Project,' aiming to sustain one million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation linked with green growth in the Mekong Delta. The project seeks to enhance efficiency, boost income, improve farmers' livelihoods, safeguard the environment, and foster adaptive responses to climate change.

Vietnam is dedicated not only to ensuring food security but also to transforming the agricultural sector from a significant emitter into a contributor to emission reduction. This involves calculating carbon credits to generate additional income for farmers.

Furthermore, Vietnam's Agriculture and Rural Development sector is steadfast in its commitment to supporting developing countries. It stands ready to share valuable agricultural production experiences, assisting African nations in ensuring sustainable food security, contributing to emission reduction, and bolstering resilience to climate change. The pledge is rooted in an impartial, pure, and wholehearted spirit, extending support until partner countries achieve mastery in science and technology, at which point collaborative efforts can conclude.
