Gia Lai achieved outstanding growth in many goals

(VAN) That is the information given by the Statistics Office of Gia Lai province in the press conference on the socio-economic situation in 2021 held in Pleiku on December 29.

In 2021, thanks to the good implementation of the dual goals, the socio-economic situation of Gia Lai remained stable, some goals even showed outstanding growth.

According to reports of Gia Lai’s Statistics Office, in 2021, the Gross Regional Domestic Product increased by 9.71%; the total investment capital of the whole society is estimated at VND 70,000 billion, 2.45 times higher than last year. The most notable category is the sudden increase in budget revenue, with VND 7,592 billion, increasing by 166.8%, this is also the highest budget revenue of Gia Lai.

In 2021, there are 17 wind power projects being implemented, with an estimated operating capacity of over 1,242MW. Since the beginning of November 2021, there are 11 commercial operation projects, producing a power output of 295 million KWH, reaching over VND 560 billion.

In 2021, there are 64 projects with a total registered capital of VND 25,062 billion, approved by the Provincial People's Committee and decided on investment policy; 172 other projects with a total registered capital of VND 13,987 billion with investors interested in research and proposals.

Production of agriculture, forestry and seafood in 2021 met many difficulties due to negative influences of drought, storms and floods, the Covid-19 pandemic with complicated developments badly affecting the export-import activities and consumption of agricultural products.

Facing those difficulties, the agricultural industry had many timely, efficient responses, so the productivity of the crops is quite good, the rice crops have decent output, the price remains high, the production of perennial plants shows a good growth rate; poultry production is well developed; the number of pig herds is also making a recovery. The agriculture, forestry and seafood sectors have shown their role as a foundation for the economy during difficult times, ensuring food and necessities supplies, becoming an important basis for the implementation of social security.

The total export turnover of Gia Lai reached USD 610 million, increasing 5.17%. In which, coffee and fruits are products with higher proportions by exploiting the advantages of the EVFTA.

In 2021, the production value of agriculture, forestry and seafood is estimated at VND 49,602.35 billion, increasing 13.99% over the same session of the previous year, including Agriculture with VND 48,587.01 billion, up 14.25%, Forestry with VND 594.05 billion, down 1.49%, seafood with VND 421.30 billion, up 9.57% over the same session…

In 2021, Gia Lai province is expected to have thirteen more communes and two districts completing the criteria of the new rural districts, increase the number of new rural communes to 100 communes, the number of new rural districts and towns to 5 localities.

Especially last year, the Kon Ha Nung plateau stretching over five districts and towns of Gia Lai province was recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve. This opens up great opportunities for projects on forest protection, tourism exploitation and economic development under the forest canopy in the future.

From April 26 to December 23, 2021, Gia Lai province recorded nearly 6,500 positive cases for Covid-19; with 16 deaths. Currently, more than 1.7 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered to people. Accordingly, 95.5% of people in the province have received at least one injection, more than 65% have received two injections. Thanks to simultaneous and effective implementation, to prevent epidemics, Gia Lai is currently transitioning to a state of flexible and safe adaptation. At the end of the year, some industries such as tourism and services are showing recovery.
